Title: UFC 105: Couture v. Vera Post by: scotty2hatty on November 12, 2009, 03:53:31 AM Anyone from blonde going?
I'm leaving Dundee at 7 in the morning on Saturday for an epic weekend. My first UFC, fairly sure it'll be incred. Betting wise, I'll hopefully be backing Pearson (7/4); Bisping (11/10); and Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaul "Relllllllllllllllllllllllllentlesssssssssssssssssssssss" Taylor (5/4ish). Thoughts? Countdown is on official UFC website. Title: Re: UFC 105: Couture v. Vera Post by: pokefast on November 12, 2009, 10:42:04 AM Big boxing fan but never watched this ultimate fighting.
Am i missing anything? Are there any rules? Title: Re: UFC 105: Couture v. Vera Post by: GreekStein on November 12, 2009, 10:49:34 AM Big boxing fan but never watched this ultimate fighting. Am i missing anything? Are there any rules? No crossbows. No impersonations of arachnids. No nudity. No toilet breaks. Oh, and they must wear gloves. Title: Re: UFC 105: Couture v. Some of the most common rules.... No kicks to the head of a downed opponent. No strikes at all to the back of the head. No fish-hooking. No eye-gouging. No headbutting. Title: Re: UFC 105: Couture v. You really should watch it the sport is incred. The fighters come from all over the word now, there are a number of top Brazilians, the Welterweight Champ is Canadian and Michael Bisping is currently flying the flag for the UK. I'm taking all the favourites in this one, Vera, Kang, Brown and Swick. Title: Re: UFC 105: Couture v. Title: Re: UFC 105: Couture v. Vera Post by: Boba Fett on November 15, 2009, 12:09:22 AM Bisping looked great in round 2 tonight!
Pearson was also impressive in his win. Title: Re: UFC 105: Couture v. Vera Post by: creepy_benji on November 15, 2009, 12:56:50 AM Yeah was impressed by Pearson, I think Winner has the brighter future though. Bisping did look good in the 2nd round I still don't think he has a chance vs. Nate Marquardt, A. Silva, Hendo, Belfort and prolly Maia too.
Also don't think Hardy has much of a chance vs. GSP, he looked good though tonight. Randy and Vera both looked bad imo, Vera has just been overhyped and overrated since he got the the UFC, although Randy controlled in the clinch he didn't inflict nearly as much damage as he used to, both will not break into the top 5 imo. Enjoyable night of fights though, did you get a cap Scotty? Title: Re: UFC 105: Couture v. Vera Post by: Boba Fett on November 15, 2009, 04:23:01 AM I think itll be really tough to stop Pearson. He is easily one of the fittest fighters in the UFC and his all around game seems to be really solid. Winner does seem to be very good and will improve and I think Osipczak could do some damage in time.
On watching Bisping tonight I think he still has lots more he can add to his game but until then he wont compete at the top of any division he can make weight for. I dont think Swick or Hardy (or many in the division) can compete with GSP, he didnt look too worried at the prospect of fighting Hardy, I think he will take Hardy apart on the ground. Title: Re: UFC 105: Couture v. Vera Post by: GreekStein on November 16, 2009, 12:18:41 PM How did Couture do?
Title: Re: UFC 105: Couture v. Vera Post by: creepy_benji on November 16, 2009, 06:01:23 PM He won a very boring decision, he controlled Vera nearly the whole fight in the clinch as expected but he didn't do the damage he used to a couple of years ago and got no takedowns, Vera was crap too though, landed a few good shots but couldn't do anything once Randy grabbed him.
Title: Re: UFC 105: Couture v. Vera Post by: scotty2hatty on November 16, 2009, 07:55:25 PM It was incredible. You simply have to go next time if you are a fan of the sport and haven't been. They put on a brilliant production.
Fights were excellent too - I'm going to watch it again tonight on ESPN. GSP getting in the ring was quality, although I'm a little surprised that Hardy is now getting a title shot.
