Title: PC Help Required. Post by: Nem on December 10, 2005, 05:54:55 PM I have just started using FireFox and everytime I check emails via MSN messenger it keeps on opening an Internet Explorer window, not a FireFox one. I've set Firefox as my preferred default browser but it still keeps on happening???
Thanks in advance Title: Re: PC Help Required. Post by: ifm on December 10, 2005, 06:47:05 PM Does it for me but it never really bothered me, i'll have a look for ya in a bit, must be able to disable it

I also use Firefox, By far the best brower out there, much faster load times. Title: Re: PC Help Required. Post by: ifm on December 10, 2005, 09:13:17 PM Straight from the horses mouth as it were:-
Actually this is by design. Links will open in the default browser, but Hotmail, Spaces, etc. will load into Internet Explorer. ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com All posts unless otherwise specified are (c) 2005 Jonathan Kay. Im trying to give my pc a new lease of life, either that or i will have to buy a new one. Title: Re: PC Help Required. Post by: Heid on December 12, 2005, 09:04:52 PM Do a big uninstall of everything you don't think you will need as well ... and then run defrag once you have done that.
We all collect a lot of clutter on our HD that we rarely use. Heid xx Title: Re: PC Help Required. Post by: Nem on December 12, 2005, 10:57:21 PM Also defrag via all programs>accessories>system tools>disk defragment
Title: Re: PC Help Required. Post by: Decider on December 13, 2005, 12:06:08 PM Depending on the age of your hard drive, it may be beneficial to get a new HD. I just bought one with 8Mb cache instead of the 512Kb that I had before and the speed difference is superb. Dirt cheap these days too. 250Gb for £80 to replace my 20Gb drive.
Title: Re: PC Help Required. Post by: mikkyT on December 13, 2005, 12:29:01 PM Maybe a no brainer but make sure its at least 7,200 rpm. I know 5,400 are very very rare these days but some unscruptuous people might try to palm one off on you. 10,000 rpm are nice, but a little noisy unless you splash the cash.
