Title: Staking request
Post by: thetank on November 20, 2009, 11:29:08 PM
In a nutshell

I’m going to be playing the $69+$6 45 man sitngos on full tilt and am looking for a stake of $7,500 (100 buy-ins) to be sold in 25 slices of $300 each.
25% of the winnings and accumulated rakeback will be split up equally among the 25 slices so each slice gives 1% my profits.

The availability is rather low though, many slices already reserved.

Staking history

Last August I was staked to play the $50+$5 regular speed single table tournaments on full tilt. I changed to playing the $24+$2 45 man sitngos as my hourly was better, I also established with my stakers a  fairer rate for an established sitngo grinder of 25:75 rather than the traditional 50:50.
Over the course of around 12 months the investors made over 300% return on their investment.

Soon after the conclusion of that agreement I ran into a standard downswing of just over $1.5k or so, and decided to withdraw the rest of my bankroll to be comfortable with my IRL money situation and enter another staking agreement to play the $26+$2 45 man tournaments on full tilt with the 25:75 arrangement.

The arrangement this time has been to settle up at the end of every 300 games. After ten weeks or so of this arrangement investors have seen a return of over 57% over 1,200 games and I’m running reasonably after the halfway point of the current 300 game period so  that figure is likely to be over 70% when we get to 1,500 games.

I want to to increase my hourly rate and continue to play good poker, hence my proposal to play the $69+$6 games.

$69+$6 games.

My research in the last week or so has shown that although less games run at this level than the $24+$2s, there is still enough volume to make them playable.
I have sharkscoped as many winning regulars as I could find who have a decent sample in both, rarely did I see their ROI dropping by more than 10% at the $69+$6s compared to what they got at the $24+2s. Most of the time there was less than a 5% difference.
My current ROI at the $24+$2 games is 26% after a sample of over 2,400 games. For this reason I fell I should be able to beat the $69+6s. I observed a few of the games last night and the standard of play looked very similar.

Pretty pictures

Risk

With any staking request there is an element of risk, however I feel I have managed this so that the risk to you is less than 1%. The rate of 25:75 rather than 50:50 reflects the fact that you are almost guaranteed to see a return on your investment. If you are only interested in 50:50 things  for whatever reason then I’m sure you can find someone who wants to play a couple of live comps for you, I’m going to be hard at work grinding thousands of online sitngos.

I currently am comfortable playing 8 tables at once. I have played 10 and 12 for a while, but felt that my edge was significantly less when playing any more than 8 and therefore the downswings bigger. My biggest downswing thus far at the 45s was 80 buy-ins, the start of this downswing included a period of 12 tabling.

At the $69+$6 tournaments I would not want to play more than 8 tables. The starting bankroll is to be set at 100 buy-ins. This will allow us to weather large downswings.

I have ordered a Full Tilt poker security key device a few weeks ago and it should arrive soon.

I play poker on a powerful desktop purchased this summer. The last time my internet went out was 3 months ago for 1 hour. I use a laptop and Vodafone dongle as backup in case of equipment failure, power cut or internet downtime.

Updates

Every Sunday stakers will get a brief note on how many games have been playe, how much profit has been made, and my current best estimate of when the 300 game period will conclude.

Buyback

I’ll be looking to gradually buy back the slices one by one during the course of the next year or so. To make the investment worth your while, I offer the guarantee that your slice will not be bought back until the cumulative return on your investment has reached 50%.
If your slice is bought back, the $300 will be returned to you at the same time as the winnings for that period.
A full list of the current ownership of the 25 slices will be displayed in your pm at the end of each period.

Withdrawl

At the end of each period of 300 games winning will be shipped and it will be assumed investors want to carry on to the next 300 games.

If you wish to withdraw your stake for any reason then just contact me and your investment will be returned to you at the conclusion of the current 300 game period along with the winnings for that period.

If we ran bad and lost money during that period, your investment returned will not be the full $300 (obv), rather the amount of the current bankroll divided by 25. (for instance if we’re down $500 you’ll get $280 back instead of $300)

Other relevant pieces of information.

Your return will include all winnings from games and all rakeback. It will not include other bonuses, including iron man point value, frequent player point value, leaderboard prizes or prizes from any promotional freerolls I may qualify for .

Except for any promotional freerolls I may qualify for, I don’t use the account to play any other games, no MTTs, no cash. The only other games I may play are the lower buy-in 45 man STTs if traffic is slow.

If I lose rakeback from using  frequent player points, I take the hit on that. Stakers will receive the winnings worked out as what the rakeback would have been if I didn’t use the points.

You will be informed  of any major changes to the arrangement in good time to give you the opportunity to withdraw your investment if you so choose.

Shipping on Monday will be ok.

Couple of questions just to check...

1. Am I right in saying $26 games you play will be included in the stake. I'm sure you'll end up mixing a few in..

2. If for some reason you ran super-gross at $75s and bankroll dipped to 40 buy-ins or less or something, would you rebuild with $26 games?

1. Yes. All games played on the account except for promotional freerolls will be included in the winnings. (I do this in case I win a WSOP seat or some shit, bollox to that headache)

2. No, In the situation you describe, so long as I was confident in my ability to beat the games, I would still be playing the $69+$6s.
I will step down to the $24+$2s if my confidence is low. (If a massive swing happens straight away before we win anything, it's almost certain that confidence will be low.)

Have I read this right?

Your after a $7500 bankroll of which your not putting any in, and are only offering 25% of any profits back to the stakers aswell as their stake?

Hi Tank

It reads well but what kind of profit are you looking to make over the 300 games?? and how much do you have left for sale?

I dont want this to sound like an attack or anything and you have clearly done well by selling out very quickly but........ Why do you need a $7.5k roll when your stats show you have won over $50k?

Anyway, well done on selling out and gl to you and ya stakers :)

I've used most of that money to buy curry from ASDA.

I could probs play the $26s safely on my own dime the now, but I want to nit it up and keep decent wodge in the bank to weather the storms.
I'm hoping 75% of what I make at the $75s >> 100% of what I would make at the $26s

Sounds expensive but effectively it's buying money.

I don't do much staking any more but I'd have jumped all over this if I saw it in time.

Not that you need it because you just play long term EV but GL Tank.

This has now ended, and it's not ended well.
Fortunes have been extremely mixed.

This graph is of the $69+$6 tournaments I played.

We did very well for a while, for a total profit of $35k or so including rakeback.
The stakers had made 105% return on their investment.

We then hit a large and prolonged downswing, which this evening has swallowed the last of the bankroll. 105% becomes just 5%.

A few stakers had their slices bought back before the downswing so they faired better.
Two more I resold a couple of those slices to and they didn't see any return on them before all was lost so have lost money overall from the arrangement.
There's likely to be a future project and those two people will be given priority for buying slices and possibly some concessions should they want to deal with me again.

Personally, I've done quite well from the arrangement. Except for the last 1,000 games. I regret how it has ended, I would have hoped to have done much better for everyone. I especially regret that two people have lost money overall.
