Best place for value to play in Leeds is Gala as it is guaranteed every night,,, quite often with overlay... However it is a really fast structure and play towards the end is shocking with everyone nursing 5bb stacks... However the good part about gala is the cash games... usually 2/3 tables every night,,, 0.50/1 blinds and sometimes a dealers choice game

Merrion is ok if you are learning to play the game and is affordable as most competition's there are 10DC's... One good point is that they run a decent £50 deepstack comp every month which allows more play...

Napoleons is a rebuy fest with players starting with 1000 chips and blinds at 100 100... These are either 10 or 20 rebuys... Good prizes but can get expensive... They also run a decent freezeout every month,,, I think it is a £200 comp with 30 min blinds throughout... Very juicy cash games with very loose players but with blinds 2/2 or 2/5 this can become really expensive...

Alea is probably the easiest for you to get to and has £15 and £20 comps most night which don't last too long as they only get 20-30 runners but with cash games every night it too is work checking out...

Hope that helps...

Come along to the Alea £15 f/o next Monday. Nice cheap tournament, a good fast paced structure, and just on your doorstep :)

I'm the guy with long hair who'll no doubt be dealing and drinking a girly cocktail.

Alea Leeds have announced today that they will be closing down and pulling out of the running for a Leeds super casino licence.
Restaurants and everything closing with 99 jobs lost.
Hardly surprising as Clarence Dock seems like a ghost town at the moment

oh dear! That is gg clarence dock for sure! Hope nobody owns a flat down there! Its never great when Starbucks leaves an area, but Alea are a key operator down there and thats going to be an awful lot of unlettable space! One for Genting maybe?

Quite possibly the most stupid decission made down there (as an area), was to charge for parking, let alone ask what they do for parking. Who would pay £7 to park for 2 hours in the middle of nowhere?

Real shame!

Most plush Casino in Leeds shame they were clueless and it was not helped with the location although parking was not a problem past 6 as you could use the car park for free there then.

I wish we still had Moortown ffs..

Oh of course, it was free for any casino user too, I meant generally as an area. It had so much potential, but some very silly things killed it!

Yep, they have built too much around there, way too many flats and roads. Not enough stuff to create a community out of. It really does not help that its right next to a shithole (all those flats next to my old school Mount St Marys), a community of druggies and homeless right next to it too wont help, the odd time I went there to the Royal Armories there was nothing else to do, much prefer crown point.

A real shame. I don't really play at Alea (or anywhere) anymore but we still went every month or so for The Bird.

But yeah, not really a surprise. If anything I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

The casino itself was fine. Few things I thought were a bit silly but nothing major. It's just Clarence Dock as an area never took off. Half the flats were always empty. Was looking there myself but the prices were just daft. There's much cheaper elsewhere. And the problem Alea had was that apart from itself there was nothing else around there in terms of night life. It might have fared better if there were a few bars and pubs to attract people there for nights out.
