I know Dale's mentioned it in his blog that he'll be there. I'm vaguely considering going atm... Title: Re: PokerStars UKIPT Galway Post by: Murph1984 on November 26, 2009, 05:47:44 PM If you've not been to Galway before you won't regret going.
Best place in Ireland for a night out and they know how to run their poker there as well. MC is just going to tell her he has got another prop bet on that week and he must not be disturbed for a week, then climb out the window. It is what I like to call manning up and showing them who's boss. Title: Re: PokerStars UKIPT Galway Post by: MC on November 27, 2009, 08:58:24 AM Rofl.
Fortunately didn't have to resort to climbing out the window, the missus has approved me going, either I run good and she's very understanding or she'll be spending my time away with my son's future step dad lol. Title: Re: PokerStars UKIPT Galway Post by: Cottonbud on November 27, 2009, 09:06:40 AM Hey I don't really know many of you guys yet other than the ppl I knew before I joined here. But I would really like to go to this event I asked a few of my close poker mates but they didn't seem too keen on a) the buyin or b) the fact it was so close to the DTD Monte Carlo event.
Well I'm going to be playing the Monte Carlo event regardless and I've never played a comp in Ireland before. Judging by your reviews it sounds great so I might come along even if it is by myself to have a good time and try and TID :D. Does anyone know where you fly too is it Dublin or Galway? geography isn't my best subject if I'm honest. Title: Re: PokerStars UKIPT Galway Post by: Laxie on November 27, 2009, 09:13:22 AM Here's a map of the airports to give you a better idea
http://www.gettingtoireland.com/airports.htm They have links to all sorts of info on that site, but if you get stuck give a shout and I'll do what I can to point you in the right direction. Title: Re: PokerStars UKIPT Galway Post by: MC on November 27, 2009, 09:15:19 AM You fly into Galway man. I'm yet to play in Ireland either...
Yeah shame it's so close to Monte Carlo thing and might have preferred a slightly reduced buy-in, but it's supposed to be a soft field which can only be aided by the # of Stars qualifiers. Title: Re: PokerStars UKIPT Galway Post by: Cottonbud on November 27, 2009, 09:23:37 AM Thanks guys for your help. I'm just off to sleep now.. yes sleep at 9-24am lol the life of an online poker player is wrong! I'll take a proper look later, thanks again!

Some day some few of ya might listen.
Anyway, milk thistle in either tablet or liquid form works a treat! They sell out in the shops around here on the run up to Christmas. Great for the liver. I take the tablets in the run up to any big nights out and if I think of it, a glass of water with a few drops of the liquid version after a night out. Only complaint I have the next day after a late night out is being tired. Keir Ratcliff (the recipient) was on my left and a thorn in my side, though had fun chatting to him he's an excellent player, but would say the field is pretty soft generally.
Was good to meet moon&back, hopefully will catch more of Dale, and there's a fair bunch of friendly faces around so that's cool. Hopefully will run good today :) Title: Re: PokerStars UKIPT Galway Post by: NigDawG on December 12, 2009, 01:54:01 PM Jake Cody is still in on 14k, posts here as neverbluff I think

New forfeit if you don't win a comp should be that you have to completely update the next blonde bash on your own! ;) Homer is right. I don't think many people appreciate just how much bloggers have to do to bring as much reporting to folks back home as they do. Even with only 11 players, a lone blogger has to try and keep an eye on the action, report it as best as he can, update chip counts, update the prize payout page, organise and publish photos and occasionally videos too. All that while coping with publishing times for each section. They work extremely long hours in difficult conditions, and there is just no way a blogger working on his/her own can reproduce the weight of work that you have come to expect, say, from an EPT which might have four bloggers working flat out. Title: Re: PokerStars UKIPT Galway Post by: TightEnd on December 14, 2009, 12:35:45 PM Final table profiles from Poker Stars
THE FINAL TABLE Paul Marrow from Liverpool, United Kingdom (50) Final table chip count: 1,000,500 Chipleader Paul has been playing poker for around 4 years and is a man with a point to prove. 'I'm known as a bit of a lunatic player and I'm always getting friends like Neil Channing telling me to just play poker and stop being stupid.' Marrow, who plays cash games online and live a couple of times a week, headed to the event knowing that he was going to win it. Whether the other players have something to say about it is another matter. Ben Lefew from Harvard, Illinois (24) Final table chip count: 928,500 Lefew qualified for the UKIPT Galway through a $8.88 rebuy at the beginning of December, but that's not to say this is an ordinary low stakes player. The full time pro's biggest score was in the WCOOP main event where he finished 6th for $375,000 under the name Chong94. He's been playing around 5 years and qualified for the event for a total of $26 because he 'wanted to do some travelling and this was a cheap way to do it.' Padraig Parkinson from Paris, France (52) Final table chip count: 693,500 Irishman Padraig Parkinson needs little introduction as one of Irish poker's most famous sons. A professional poker player for 20 years Parkinson has successfully turned his hand to commentating and broadcasting as well as doing a lot of charity work for the homeless. Parkinson finished third in the WSOP Main Event in 1999 for $489,125 when fellow Irishman Noel Furlong won. Michael McFadgen from Toronto, Canada (23) Final table chip count: 585,500 One of a few young professional poker players at the table, McFadgen has been playing for 5 years and owns training site SNGMentors.com. His friend kardlo69, who is in line for a percentage of his winnings, won 3 seats for the event at PokerStars and passed one on McFadgen. Michael Graydon from Dublin, Ireland (24) Final table chip count: 585,000 BIGMICKG as he is known online is a feared sit-and-go player who topped sit-and-go leader boards last year. The former supernova elite made the money at this year's World Series of Poker $10,000 Main Event for $25,027. Graydon qualified for the UKIPT through PokerStars. Cat O'Neill from Dublin, Ireland (27) Final table chip count: 535,000 Online fraud analyst Cat O'Neill has been playing poker for two years and tries to play as frequently as possible. She was bought into the event by her boyfriend, Rob Taylor, who also played and cashed in 34th place for €2,800. O'Neill said, 'He buys me in and I spend the winnings!' Paul Dooley from Letterkenny, Ireland (37) Final table chip count: 376,500 After playing for four years it seems Paul Dooley has worked out what it's all about. Fresh off a final table finish in the Irish Masters for €22,400 the part-time player is well positioned to make another sizeable score if the cards run his way. When not at work at a bank he also likes to play golf. Vinny Cosgrove from Tuam, Ireland Final table chip count: 301,000 Hometown hero Vinny Cosgrove hails from Tuam, a small town in County Galway. Cosgrove has had the most vocal support of the tournament and could make the final table an electrifying event if he gets an early double up. Trevor Bulless from Essex, United Kingdom (65) Part-time player Bulless has been playing for 8 years at a local casino and since retiring from the motor industry poker has become a favourite pastime. Although he's scored a few final tables during his poker career this is by far and away his biggest with a guaranteed payout of at least €9,000. If he wins big he intends to use some of it to bankroll entry into bigger tournaments such on the EPT circuit. Title: Re: PokerStars UKIPT Galway Post by: tikay on December 15, 2009, 01:03:39 PM PADRAIG PARKINSON WINS POKERSTARS.COM UKIPT GALWAY Irish poker legend Padraig Parkinson has won the Irish Poker Championships and is the first PokerStars UKIPT Galway champion. Parkinson takes home the 125,000 first prize and receives an entry into the 5,250 PokerStars.com EPT London event which is the season finale to the UK & Ireland Poker Tour. In addition to that he will also initially top the Season 1 UKIPT leader board which awards over 60,000 worth of added prizes to the top 100 players over all of the events from Season 1 with the top placed finisher receiving all of their buy-in and hotel accommodation for Season 2. Parkinson originally from Galway and who now resides in Paris, France is best known for his third place finish in the 1999 WSOP Main Event and his victory in series five of the Late Night Poker Show in 2002. Parkinson, came to the final table third in chips and faced stiff competition from PokerStars qualifier Ben Lefew, who also final tabled the PokerStars.com WCOOP Main Event in 2009, former PokerStars Supernova Elite Michael Graydon and Englishman Paul Marrow who was runner-up. Parkinson finally won the heads up when he called Paul Marrow抯 all in with K-Q of hearts and it held up against Marrow抯 5-2 off suit. However, the real damage had been done a few hands earlier when Padraig had won a massive all-in pot against Marrow holding A-Q against Marrow抯 pair of sixes. A queen on the flop was enough to give Parkinson the pot and an overwhelming advantage. Parkinson paid tribute to his heads up opponent and friend Paul Marrow in his post event interview before adding 揑 don抰 think there抯 been anyone who has won this title before who has felt as good as I do now, coming back to Galway and being a Galway lad, it means everything. PokerStars qualifiers Ben Lefew and Michael Graydon both played excellently, ultimately finishing third and fourth respectively for prizes of 52,000 and 36,000. In all there were 259 players, including 116 PokerStars.com players, who entered the inaugural 2,000 buy-in UKIPT Galway event creating a prize pool of 471,380. Among those who competed were former England football international Teddy Sheringham, Irish rugby legend Reggie Corrigan and former WBA Super Bantamweight champion Bernard Dunne. Also in attendance were Team PokerStars PROs John Duthie - who finished 35th for 2,800 JP Kelly and Jude Ainsworth a former winner of the Irish Poker Championships. Nick Wealthall, UKIPT Host says, 慦e couldn抰 have asked for a stronger final table line up to start the tour or a better winner. Padraig has always been a top tournament player and he抯 proved it again here; the fact that he抯 a native of Galway makes it all the more special. Everyone watching the event knew Padraig was going to win after all he started celebrating 3 days early. The whole event had an amazing atmosphere and none of us can wait for the next event in Manchester. Final table/payouts: Name Country PokerStars status 1 Padraig Parkinson France 125,000 2 Paul Marrow United Kingdom 82,000 3 Ben Lefew United States PokerStars Qualifier 52,000 4 Michael Graydon Ireland PokerStars Qualifier 36,000 5 Michael McFagden Canada PokerStars Player 22,000 6 Paul Dooley Ireland 17,000 7 Vinny Cosgrove Ireland 13,000 8 Cat O扤eill Ireland 11,000 9 Trevor Bulless United Kingdom 9,000 Title: Re: PokerStars UKIPT Galway Post by: tikay on December 15, 2009, 01:04:59 PM My sincere congrats to Padraig, I'm really pleased to see him take this down. Great result Mr P. Title: Re: PokerStars UKIPT Galway Post by: Cottonbud on December 16, 2009, 07:29:24 AM Howdy all! MC congrats I didn't actually meet you in Galway not sure which guy you was, I went pretty deep in the €500 too and didn't see you pretty unlikely we werent on eachothers table? I have to say thanks Tikay for scaring me about the flights which were totally fine by the way, although my fear is still not cured.
Have some funny incidents to mention about the main event some pretty comical hands which makes poker fun. At the start of day 2.. 1st hand back Padraig comes to his table, just in time to play his BB, the button raises, Padraig still steaming drunk from day 1 doesn't even look at his cards before announcing "ALLIN" and shoving his chips over the line with nearly his hole-cards following which was like 50k or something a huge overbet the button snap calls with Aces, padraig turns over 7-3os the flop brings 6-5-5 and the turn a 4 to complete the straight lol. Surely a legend for doing this but mbn to bink! Later on he opens UTG the guy from the button 3bets Padraig flats theres like 36k in the pot Padraig checks the button shoves for like 3 times the pot on a 10-9-3 flop x 2 diamonds padraig snap calls with q7dd a diamond FD the button turns over 6's and Padraig makes the flush lol these being his comical hands of the torny he was v drunk when I saw him. But he also made a really good play against Mick 'Dabookie' Hill, although it is a cooler he opened EP with KK Mick 3bet from the button, Padraig flatted the flop came 10 high 2 hearts Padraig check-raised Mick who then shoved, Mick had QQ Padraig KK. I actually had a solid table all day 1 but I knew there was some soft players in the field. On the bubble a friend of mine Matt Perrins had an interesting hand, who is playing the bubble to perfection opening most hands 3betting putting pressure on everyone. An old guy opens EP Matt decides to 3bet him the old guy insta passes Kings face up before saying to Matt "Oh F Off, your a W***** you are!". Matt actually had Q4 priceless lol. Loved the trip it was brilliant, didn't win much and spent loads on booze would definately recommend blondes to attend next year.
