Title: NFL "Suggest a team" Thread
Post by: pleno1 on December 07, 2009, 07:32:03 PM
Yo, really want to get into the NFL, too many degens love it so must be good banter and the games are supposedly always close so will be good to bet on too... Have absolutely no idea on who to support so dont wanna jump in randomly and pick a "Bolton"

Any suggestions on who would be a good team to support? I'm looking to get really into ths, so a nice place to visit maybe, a nice jersey and fun players would be good.

gogoggoogog

Cleveland would be a good choice if you are a masochist.

Shitty city, shitty team, shitty coach and shitty front office.

Things can only get better!

Me too. Can you pick me a team that used to do quite well, but have been terrible for about a decade but still have delusions of grandeur?

The city isn't too bad, but the rest is all true.  Sigh.

Miami Dolphins.

I'll chip 'em across and you nod 'em in.

Philly, Philly, Philly.

Only because of the incredibly comedy show 'It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia'

not sure what you mean by not picking a bolton pleno. are you looking to avoid a crap team or a dull average team?

Lol, we haven't got to the Super bowl in the 25 years I have been following them, so a bit longer than a decade.

The Raiders fit that description quite well.

please avoid the following as they already have blonde fans- broncos, patriots, jets, cardinals, giants, cowboys, falcons, colts, eagles, bears, 49ers

probs quite a few more but they're the ones I know/can remember

bolton because they are dull as fuck.

would like a tottenham/villa type, lots of flair players, high scoring game,s coming up, going to be challenging in next 3-4 years.

Having a bet means you don't have to support one team.

Whoever you've bet on, becomes your team for that week.

Chargers imo, nice weather and a good team with an explosive offence.

Meh having a bet is fun, but I get lot more out of it actively supporting a team.

What you could do is pick a team that's never won the Superbowl. That way if you do bink one in a few years or whatever, you'll be experiencing for the first time what all the die-hards who've been supporting the team for decades are going through for the first time too. I dunno, that makes it better somehow.

Teams to have never won include the Bills, Bengals, Browns, Texans, Jaguars, Titans, Chargers, Eagles, Lions, Vikings, Falcons, Panthers, Saints, Cardinals, and Seahawks.

Take away the Bengals, Cardinals, Chargers, Vikings and Saints because they're currently on top of their respective divisions and you don't want to be a dirty glory boy do you?

Take away the Browns coz of factors

That leaves the Bills, Texans, Jaguars, Titans, Eagles, Lions, Panthers and Seahawks.

Texans would be a good choice.

Great stadium, huge amount of excellent young players and always seem to play in exciting games.. All they need is to fire that jackass Kubiak and they will be at the top for the foreseeable future.

How 'bout Jacksonville if they might be moving to London?
What a mega bink that would be, your team moves closer to you. You could be one of the only Jacksonville fans in the world not royally fucked off.

Interestingly Texans are number 10 in what sports franchises in the US are worth the most. American football is massive in Texas.

Cliffs: 32 teams in 8 divisions of 4. Split into 2 conference AFC and NFC.

They all play 16 games (over 17 weeks).

Each team who wins their division gets in the playoffs and the 2 teams from each conference with the next best records get wild cards.

So 6 teams in each conference playoff against one another to reach the superbowl.

The playoffs are seeded and are knock out one off matches, with the highest seeded team playing at home.
