After a portable DVD player not overly fussed on features or make but would ideally like about a 9 inch screen, thats easy enough to find one between £50 and £700!

Really though I want one with a removable battery so i can have a spare and get about 8 hours playback?

Anyone got one, got any tips or suggestions?

we are getting one for my oldest for the car, you can get good ones for £100, and a double screen one (two screens. one for the back of each car seat) for £150 tops!

I want it to use on planes though so if it has to be fitted in a car, and the car has to go in my hand luggage, and then onto the plane, might be awkward?

The £700 was sweet and played Blu-Ray but not Geordie_Ray.

Not going in the car so dont want two screens. Just for the plane so battery life most important and a decent sized screen.

Don't laptops have DVD drives?

Get one of those?

I have a laptop but when i go away i normally only take my netbook and its a paid ripping dvds on my laptop and then moving them.

get an external dvd drive for your netbook and plug it into the wall or are you going on cheapo airlines without a socket?

and you rarely get 8 hours of battery in a laptop when your watching dvds

Probably best to find the cheapest one possible but make sure it does "upscaling"

That way it will be better than the £700 one anyway as that plays the dvds as intended rather than making them artificially better.

Obv no help to you for that but you could get one for your car,if you drive.You can see sat nav directions on the screen or out else you might fancy,whilst the person in the front seat can watch a film ON THE SAME SCREEN,UN-BE-LIEVABLE

And as for the dvd player just go to PC World and buy the most expensive one they do. That tends to be the best.

I stand looking at something and wait for someone to serve me ... and wait some more ... and wait some more, then when eventually someone does arrive, I ask them the most basic question about the product  and then listen to a 5 minute answer which has absolutely no relevance to the question I asked.

A friend of mine who just travels around the world working in odd jobs has an Archos player.

I'm not up with the tech side of it but it did look pretty decent from what I saw of it and he swears by it.

one thing tho, it says 13 hours play back time then say 'A single charge lets you watch about four DVDs' are they watching Once Upon a Time in America 4 times?

amazing how top gear get a stiffy about this when it is in a range-rover , when it has been available as an option in the s-class mercedes for nearly a year now.
