Title: Internet Dongles
Post by: Sack it off on December 10, 2009, 08:42:38 PM
Looking for a USB dongle as I want a second connection cos my current connection is pretty toss.

Has there been a thread already relating to this?

Anyone have any recommendations?

Can recommend Vodafone, £15 a month. Check the coverage where you live before you buy though, the mobile co's have a coverage map on their sites to check.

Edit- Forgot also have a T mobile one for work, don't know what it costs or anything, but I'd say the coverage isn't as good as Vodafone, as I say check coverage maps for your area

My t-mobile one was shockingly bad, though I've kept it just in case I go out and about anywhere.

FWIOW, Stars disconned all the time when using it but Full Tilt was fine, even 4 tabling.

Vodafone pay as you go is pretty good as the credit doesn't expire for 6 months. £34.99 for the dongle which includes 1GB of data. £15 for a 1GB tp-up. Obviously a contract would be better if you're going to be using it frequently.

Even those coverage maps are a piece of crap - you really need to test what the reception is like in the exact place you'll be using it to be sure as there are local factors which can affect it.

One room in a building may be fine whereas in another it will be unusable.

Sounds like this technology isn't really advanced enough yet
