Title: New Website business - site and logo help required
Post by: outragous76 on January 13, 2010, 04:20:24 PM
Im pretty sure some of you guys are web site designers.

I have a new business idea which requires a New Logo to be designed and a simple website.

What kind of costs am I looking at for

1. Logo design
2. 3/4 page website - no heavy content - mostly site logo - big clickable buttons and text
3. a link to a payment site which takes credit cards (such a yahoo etc?)

any info appreciated, and I am very serious about getting this going and quickly.

cheers

Guy

Let the Blondes design the logo, $50 on stars should cover it.

I use these people - £50 set up and £7.50 per month thereafter. They will design logos etc. http://www.therapywebgenie.com/

What's the site for?
How are you going to get visitors to it?
You want to take payments - via a third party (have you considered chargebacks, etc., or are they irrelevant?) I assume so you don't have to store/deal with card payments?

Some say you get what you pay for, but for a simple 'brochure-ware' site you don't have to pay extortionate amounts.  However, if you are in a competitive market and want your site to outshine competitors' sites, then you might have to spend a few pennies.

I want the logo to be super professional because the brand could take off.

Payment will be by credit/debit card and details preferably retained.

It will be a subscription based web site, but subscription is annual.

Can't really say what it is about other than that. There is no competition in the market and it shouldn't be easily replicated.

Site will need to look very good, but it won't need any fancy functions!

Go to Digital Point forums, then set up a logo competion and a price you will pay for the best design.
Some amazing designers on there.
Very good value normally.

I use a company called Ink Creations, really friendly people and they do some work for people like David Lloyd etc

You want the credit card processing to be linked into your site, you dont want people being transferred out to pay, it looks unprofessional.

Super professional logos dont sell anything either. If your idea is good enough anything half recogniseable will do.

Ive taken a guess at what your site is about and my logo is below

If  you are only looking for a few pages mate don't pay to much as its a very cheap set up

1) buy your own website name www.123-reg.co.uk   about £2.99 a year
2) i would use a site call    http://wordpress.org/   Very easy to use and will host your site for Free or a very small Rate
3)  i would have all your logos make up form www.leedscreativedesign.co.uk  and then they will be very easy to upload to your site

if you have the skills and creative ideas then you can do it yourself, otherwise it will end up looking totally shit like 99.9% of websites out there.

what is wrong with paying someone to do a decent job ?

Cheers so far guys

it seems hopkins has bust my idea so no point proceeding!  :dontask:

Anyway

I want the site to have a professional appearnace - this is an absolute must for a few reasons i cant disclose - i have no intention of doing it myself. The reality is thou it needs to be very simple in nature - there is nothing complex about the idea.

Stu - i thought that you could incorporate a Yahoo payment site into your own - i thought you could 'skin' it - is that not the point?

I already have the web address - my idea is actually 2 years old - i have just recently found the motivation to re focus and crack on with it - and the timing is currently superb re the idea

I have a mate who hosts and he is doing it at cost for me - so that is taken care of.

I dont want the logo design throwing out into the general areana -  I am happy to go with a good designer and pay an appropriate rate. My set up costsa re my biggest cost - the idea takes care oif itslef if i get it up and running.

Keep it coming thou folks - all very helpful

Cheers

G

And I don't think it's his website. Nice title of "Lorem Ipsum..." and the flashing menu gave me a headache so I had to close the tab before I looked at anything else.

Hey Guy

my friend created his own website around 4-6 months ago now, he got some specialists in to do the job. He has some good contacts. Heres his website ..... http://www.want2playgolf.com/

If you like what you see e.g. the design etc. I can find out more info for you on prices and sorts as I'm having lunch with him shortly.

Let me know as soon as you can

I'm in a similar position. Could you also pm me any info you get re: costs. Cheers.

I recall a thread a couple of years ago about Thewys brother being a graphic designer. I believe he did the DTD logo. I did exchange a few emails with him but never proceeded with my idea so never got onto the subject of cost.
