Title: Two hands from the Leeds £100 Gala Deepstack
Post by: JK on January 18, 2010, 02:41:44 PM
Heres 2 pretty strange hands where I got very lucky. They were both early on and I was trying to see some flops in position. I had a few Blondes at my table, but I dont know anybodys names so apologies.

First hand:

Stack size 10-11k, Villain 7-8k

I limp in MP/LP with  2h 4h behind 2 other guys for 100. 2 more limps and BB checks. Yes I know fold pre etc, but I wanted to see flops.

 7h 8h Th Flop

Checks to me, I bet out 450, folds to the guy to my immediate right, who calls.

 9d Turn

He checks to me, I bet out 625. He looks down at his chips, lets out a big sigh. Plays with his chips for about 30 seconds and raises to 2,625.

Your line here? He looks very hunched up at this point, his body language makes me think he may be bluffing or semi bluffing with like   Ahrt Jd.

Second hand:

Stack size: 18-20k. BB 8k, Villain 14k
I limp the button for 200 with  5d 6d after 1 limper, a VERY loose aggro villian. Played almost every pot and hammered the bollocks off it. He bet 3 streets with TPTK after every draw hit the river and got called by a flush

Flop:  3c 5s 6c

BB, who looked like he'd thought about raising pre, bets out for 525. Villian raises to 1500.

Whats your line here? I felt like I was infront on 90% of the villians range, but I was pretty sure I should fold here. I dont know... If you call/raise how do you play the rest of the hand?

Thanks guys

Ah. I know who you are now as I remember these hands. I was the guy in seat 9 with long hair :)

we need stacks for both hands - or are they both circa 10k as we are early? sounds like 2nd hand he may have lost a few?

Was about to post asking for stack sizes and clock, but outragous got there first.

btw, I personally don't mind playing more creative hands like  2h 4h early on in deepstacks with slow clock, and luckily you've posted this on a forum where you're not going to get 10 instareplies flaming you for not folding pre.

Thanks ^_^.

Will add stacks:

First hand: 11k my stack, 8k villian
Second: 18k my stack, 12-14k villain.

Hai CF :D

2h 4h and  5d 6d are fine hands but please raise with them not limp.

We are looking to either hit something big and win a big pot with a well disguised hand or win the pot by bluffing at some point.

Limping doesn't help to achieve either of these goals.

I hated limping with the  5d 6d from the button, but the over aggro guy had been hammering everything so hard I just didnt want to get 3bet and have to fold. 100% should have raised this though.

The  2h 4h I would have opened the pot had it not been for the 2 limpers. Didnt want to raise into that many people with it. Had it folded to me and I still wanted to play it, I would have raised.

Agreed 100% though. Killed me to limp the  5d 6d :P

Absolutely no reason to raise these hands if you're better than the other players.

Why bet 600 into 1500 with a flush on the 4 straight turn btw? Call turn fold heart rivers pretty much.

56dd 4100 and cawl it off imo.

i'd just muck 24s pre as played i would call and then go with it on a non-heart river, but really not a fan of preflop.

normally i hate the limp with 56s but my experience of playing at Leeds Gala is that the limp is ok because when you flop big people struggle to fold draws/pairs and i just don't struggle to get the chips in anyway. I'd re-raise to 4k-ish and call it off vs villain who might fall in love with his baby overpair.

In Leeds Gala, I fistpump both. Pre is fine too, you don't even need to build a pot against them, they will happily put lots and lots of $ in the middle. Hand 1 is a perfect turn, so many 2 pairs/straights/sets that he will stack off with.

Two good hands to analyise.

Hand 1 I'd raise pre if first in. Overcall is fine. As played call and check call and non heart. If a heart falls I wouldn't insta muck if he bets- read dependant

Hand 2 Think if we're heads up I'd see a turn card but 3 way raise>call a shove
