Title: Looking for a new poker book - suggestions please
Post by: kingquads on January 21, 2010, 03:51:50 PM

I've just finished reading Gus Hansen's 'Every Hand Revealed' which I really enjoyed.

I'm looking for something new to read now. Anbody got suggestions for other good poker books?

Thank you.

if you want strategy - then i recommend "winning poker tournaments 1 hand at a time" by pearljammer, rizen and apestyles

if just light reading - the mike mattusow book is good (as per my post yesterday)

If you havent read Harrington on Holdem then do - but you will be 3 years behind - so catch up quick!

More important than choosing your next book is immediately doing your very best to forget everything you've read in Gus' book.

It only works for him. Don't even think about it. Trust me, it doesn't work for us normal people!!!

I like Winning Poker Tournaments One Hand At A Time (Vol 1). It's very easy to read and full of little nuggets of info for tournament play. It's good to just dip into and go through a hand or two when you fancy it. Volume 2 is being released very soon, so you could get the double album if you're feeling flush.
I also think that Vicky Coren's book, For Richer For Poorer is an excellent book, very well written, funny and, at times, deeply moving. Certainly the best poker 'life story' that i've read.

I enjoyed The Poker Mindset by Matthew Hilger and Ian Taylor. Really simply written but makes a lot of sense.
