Title: TJ has his Cake, and eats it Post by: TightEnd on January 29, 2010, 12:51:47 PM Recently it was reported that TJ Cloutier’s bracelet, won in the 2005 WSOP $5,000 NLHE event, was up for sale on eBay.
A pawn shop in Texas was selling the prize, stating they received it from TJ himself. Cake Poker, one of the top five largest online poker networks, has bought the bracelet at the Buy It Now price of $2,500. Cake are giving it back to Cloutier. “As much as we would love to have a WSOP bracelet, or even award it to one of our cherished poker players, we can’t, in good conscience, keep it from the man who rightfully won it; which is why we’ve decided to return it to TJ Cloutier… just as soon as we’re done having some fun with it,” stated the company. Could be a nice little earner for TJ if cake keep buying it for him

Not a very pleasant man either in my experience. TJ is the epitome of the old-school degen poker player. Title: Re: TJ has his Cake, and eats it Post by: DaveShoelace on January 29, 2010, 01:06:58 PM Would have been so much cooler if they had a tournament with the bracelet as an added value prize, people will forget about this publicity stunt in a few days but they would have got lots of much needed traffic if they had made it a prize in a tourney.
Title: Re: TJ has his Cake, and eats it Post by: bolt pp on January 29, 2010, 01:13:43 PM I'd tell them to stick it up their arse condescending c***s, that's a seriously lowlife scumbag cheap internet publicity move

Title: Re: TJ has his Cake, and eats it Post by: Longy on January 29, 2010, 02:08:17 PM Over/Under on when TJ sells it to a pawn shop again, I will set the line at 2 weeks. No one surely believes that TJ will value this, when he hasn't got enough money to put on the craps table.

If he sells it, then the person who buys it deserves to have it no? Title: Re: TJ has his Cake, and eats it Post by: DaveShoelace on January 29, 2010, 03:20:52 PM TJ certainly doesn't deserve it

Title: Re: TJ has his Cake, and eats it Post by: Cottonbud on January 29, 2010, 05:14:23 PM A WSOP Bracelet is hardly the same as money, how can you put the two in the same context. A WSOP bracelet should be priceless to anyone that wins them. It's a sad state of affairs to have to sell your own WSOP bracelet to fund your gambling addiction.

Which one would you prefer? I know which would mean more to me, and I know which would mean more to TJ now... Personal preference, the money would be nice if it was a life changing sum but come on $2500 for a WSOP bracelet! To me a WSOP bracelet would mean more, you have it forever and its a symbol of achievement in poker of the highest order. My goal is to win at least one in my lifetime whether I do or not is another matter, but if I came 2nd in a WSOP event for say $300k the money comes and goes sure you could buy a nice house, But if I came 1st the bracelet would stay.. along with the glory of victory in something I love. It would be a nice story to tell the Grandchildren about one day.
