Title: WSOP News & Goss, Friday 3rd June Post by: tikay on June 03, 2005, 09:21:44 PM Wynns, the new Casino, are holding a 300 player Charity Comp tomorrow. The entry criteria demands that you have a net worth of not less than $800 million......
Microsoft's Bill Gates will be playing. Not sure if Phil Hellmuth quite qualifies.... Who else can the blondeites suggest might be able to meet the criteria? Yellow Card for anyone that suggests Ironside..... Title: Re: WSOP News & Goss, Friday 3rd June Post by: tikay on June 03, 2005, 09:25:49 PM It seems that the original "ceiling" of 6,600 is now just about sold out.
A decision has yet to be made as to whether a fourth opening day is to be added. Title: Re: WSOP News & Goss, Friday 3rd June Post by: Colchester Kev on June 03, 2005, 09:27:16 PM 300 people with a net worth of $800 million a piece in one room !!!! hmmm wheres my balaclava and some old newspapers for cutting out letters for the ransom notes.
And Ironside wouldnt demean himself by entertaining an event with those peasants, he will wait for the big players to arrive :) Title: Re: WSOP News & Goss, Friday 3rd June Post by: Karabiner on June 03, 2005, 10:09:27 PM It seems that the original "ceiling" of 6,600 is now just about sold out. Title: Re: WSOP News & Goss, Friday 3rd June Post by: tikay on June 03, 2005, 11:52:56 PM Dave tells me that today's $1,500 NLH - this is the event that James Vogl won last year - had an amazing 2,200 runners - 2,000, plus 200 alternates. They had to turn away hundreds of would-be players.
They began with 1,500 in tournament chips, and after 3 hours, with blinds at 50-100, over a third of the field - some 800 players - had busted out! There had been talk that this event, scheduled for 2 days, may have to be extended to 3. Hard to know on that score. Players are busting out thick & fast, but hard to see another 1,400 exiting by close of play tomorrow. Title: Re: WSOP News & Goss, Friday 3rd June Post by: TheDoc12345 on June 03, 2005, 11:55:54 PM The queues are comical - I would of thought that someone would of realised how big this year is going to be !!
Firstly, you have to queue for about an hour and a half to register, once this is done, you walk round the corner and see the REAL queue !! Three and a half hours was the average waiting time !! If you are coming out, the best time is seven o'clock in the morning to register and buy seats - no-one was here then and you fly through. Remember to bring your passport with you when registering !! The first event, the $1500 no limit freezeout, was sold out last night (2,200 seats + 200 alternates) and I have a feeling that all the no limit events will be the same prior to each event. Obviously the Omaha and limit games might be different. Unfortunetly there isn't any information available to tell people what numbers they are up to although I was told by a cashier that 6,000 of the main event places were already reserved (not paid, just reserved) leaving 600 left. This 6,000 obviously includes the online operators ! I don't know when these reservations which haven't been paid for will be released... (individual reservations I mean) We also heard today that the organisers are looking at adding an additional day (day 4) which will give another 2,200 seats. This has not been confirmed. I am pretty sure that the registrations have to be made in person as you need your passport.... (and queue jumping leads to some impressive American attitude - they must be learning from us !! hehe) One more thing - do not miss your flight over !! - Virgin are being pretty strict about checking in ONE HOUR before the flight leaves - for info, the weekday flights LEAVE at 10.45am and ARRIVE at 1.30pm - not the other way round !!! You can check in online up to 24 hours beforehand.. Good luck to everyone, I'll be on the internet every other day, so if you have any questions prior to coming over, post here and we will do our best to help.... Luke. Title: Re: WSOP News & Goss, Friday 3rd June Post by: tikay on June 04, 2005, 12:14:55 AM Thanks Luke, keep it coming.
I cant believe that anyone will miss their flights though - I mean, that's just ridiculous........ When is your first event? Title: Re: WSOP News & Goss, Friday 3rd June Post by: TheDoc12345 on June 04, 2005, 12:34:24 AM LOL - someone will let the cat out of the bag soon !!!
Our first event is tomorrow - the $1500 pot limit freezeout and Sunday is the $1500 limit freezeout. I have been reliably informed that if you make day two of a comp and you have purchased a ticket for that day they will refund your entry !! (Don't know why 'I' was told this, but it might come in handy for someone !!) There are also lots of single table sats available - although another queue is necessary, not too long a wait. Entry fees are $125, $175, $225 or $275 - first prize paid only which is 2 x $500 tournement entry chips + $120, 3 chips +$120, 4 chips + $120 or 5 chips + $120 respectively. $1,000 in chips to play and blinds are increased every 15 minutes. (Results so far = played two, won one...) By the way, I have been told that in all of the proper events you start with the same amount of chips as the entry fee, ie $1,500 entry = $1,500 chips with one hour clocks. (not sure if this is 100% correct but will know tomorrow after first game) Luke. (not sure if this is 100% correct but will know tomorrow after first game) guess there is no $50 or $100 games then well out of my depth Title: Re: WSOP News & Goss, Friday 3rd June Post by: wsopin05 on June 04, 2005, 01:58:56 AM Well, i guess I should not have bragged about my form yesterday, I was 1 of the 800 out so fast today, I had a stacked table w/ john d,agostino, paul darden, eliza, and some woman pro???
