Did anyone else think that the Defoe bringing down was a redcard? It would have been harsh imo

Trying not to be biased, but Leeds goal wasn't offside. He didnt interfere in the 1st phase, then hes back onside for the 2nd phase when Beckford shoots.

Never a freekick when Defoe went down. Went down far too easy and Lubo just put his body in the way.

I thought it was a red card. The defender isn't running towards the goal he's just running into defoe.
Thought it was offside but if it isn't the rule is a joke and it would tilt me if it was against my team.

Defoe runs towards the ball hence his change of direction. Defender continues his run just to run into Defoe imo. The ball has gone in another direction but the defender is only interested in defoe.

I got the impression with the Michalik "foul" on Defoe that it probably was a foul, but it would have been extremely harsh to give a red card for essentially just making contact with someone. There was no malicious intent to bring him down. Anywhere else on the pitch that foul gets given. I think it wasn't in this case because he was the last man and the ref would have been compelled to send him off. Had this last man = red card stuff not existed I reckon Spurs would have got the free kick.

Yeah I'm quite sure it's not an actual rule, but I'm struggling to remember the last time I saw a foul by the last man not result in a red card.

that's because the rule is something like denying a scoring oppurtunity to a player moving towards goal with a foul that would normally result in a free kick and last man offences almost always fit this criteria
