Title: Pokerstars UKIPT Manchester
Post by: MLHMLH on February 10, 2010, 05:03:09 PM
The advertised start time for the day 1's tomorrow and Friday is 2pm, however it appears that the G in Manchester have been issuing receipts for cash buy-ins with a start time of 3pm (I have one for a start!).  I've just rung them for confirmation and it's definitely a 2pm start for anyone else playing in this.

i was kind of thinking that.

might take my suit over with me in case i have to go straight to work Monday morning.

Having said that the Monte Carlo had 30k stacks and was over well before end of third day

From the stars blog ... I believe it was Bedi with the 66 which cracked the bullets.

3.40am: Bedi boom
The biggest pot at the tournament was saved for the last level of the day. Soleiman Masud raised from second position and it was folded all the way around to Rupinder Bedi in the big blind who did a massive re-raise all-in. Soleiman looked shocked for a moment and then made the automatic all with pocket aces. Soleiman tabled pocket sixes and looked to be heading out the door until a magical six fell on the flop to hand him the pot worth around 160,000, crippling his opponent in the meantime.

Well at least I hope it was.

It was george (way toooooooooo) 2loose lol

what actually happened is he raised to 4.2k (with about 80k behind) utg at 8/1600 and the guy with AA and 100k ish reraised to ~13k and george shoved all in and binked a 6 on the flop for a huge chiplead pot.

We had been playing 14 hours solid at the time tho so everyone's head was a bit battered.  ;dingdell;

He asked me not to post it on Blonde so i naturally had to.   :blonde:

btw i'm on 60k,round about average,about 65 of the 250 starters left.

THIS!!!

Played last night and the same guy had AA and KK beaten by 66 both times when a 6 had been folded by someone else, sick beyond belief!

Rick Dacey's report for Stars. Please check out the PokerStarsblog for reports as they happen

by Rick Dacey  on February 11, 2010 10:41 PM

he UKIPT is a tour that has aimed to hit that middle ground so often missed; players that want more than a £50 freezeout but don't necessarily want to stump up the €5,000 buy-in for an EPT event, and by the looks of today it's hit the target slap bang in the middle of the bulls eye. An impressive 228 players sat down to play Day 1a (and Day 1b is slated to be a sell out) meaning that there's some serious money to play for over the deep starting stacks and hour long structure providing a lot of room for manoeuvre.

A reall attraction of the tour has been dissceting the spread of up and coming stars to have-a-go heroes making it fascinating watching the sharks emerge from the depths. As the levels played out across the long 11-level day some players clearly presented themselves clearly as the ones to beat, while others check-shoved their way out of the tournament with what they'll see with hindsight was a terrible rush of blood to the head.

Rupinder 'George' Bedi and Chris Brammer were two of the most noticeable players building towers of power but others, such as Neil Blatchley, Will Romaine and Will Fry, were also doing their best to mix things up. It is the first two mentioned the have topped the overnight chip leader chart with Bedi coasting on 179,400 - partly in thanks to cracking aces with pocket sixes - and Brammer who has applied a consistent level of pressure to anyone and everyone in a pot with him. Brammer finished 11th at the UKIPT Galway for €7,000 and looked gutted not to have made the final table back in December. He'll be keen to exorcise that demon by the end of this tournament. We wouldn't put it past him - he's already knocked his dad out. He must be ruthless.

Another important mention has to be for Gerald Davis, the self-styled 'Skull Man', who has ridden one of the most rollercoaster stacks of the tournament. Davis claimed an early chip lead as the first player to break into six figures before blowing most of it shortly after. With half a level to play left in the hand he'd managed to get himself back up to 120,000 and finally finsihed level 11 with 92,600.

There's 60 players left from Day 1a who will meet the lucky and the good from Day 1b on Saturday when the fields combine. Come back and follow all the action as it happens tomorrow from 2pm (GMT).

The Chip Captains are:
Rupinder Bedi - 179,400
Chris Brammer - 126,900
Aaron Barry - 114,600
Dean Lloyd - 114,400
Adam Ashworth - 111,200
Gerald 'Skull Man' Davis - 92,600

5.05pm: 'YES' No mate, you're out
Roy Backhouse only had 16,600 chips and couldn't wait for the bubble to burst to make his move. They all went in from mid-position when folded around to him. Richard Lis then flat called from the button before Rupinder Bedi moved his big stack all in from the big blind. Lis insta-called all-in to leave a triple showdown:

Backhouse: A♦3♥
Lis: K♦K♥
Bedi: A♥Q♣

The board ran T♣7♥4♣7♣6♣.

Lis leapt out of his chair and yelled "YES". His table mates then informed him of the unfortunate news that Bedi had made a runner-runner flush to eliminate both himself and Backhouse. Bedi up to 240,000 as a result.

PokerStarsblog

9.15pm: Monster 400,000 pot for Rupinder Bedi
A huge hand has just played out between Rupinder Bedi and Dean Lyall. Bedi called an under the gun 18,000 raise with T♠T♣ and was squeezed by Lyall from middle position for a 55,000 bet. The action eventually folded back round to Bedi who made the call after asking for a count ('About 400' was the answer). They had been a slight delay when Cory Desmond had gone long and deep into the tank before realising that the action was on him, which broke the tension for a short while at least.

Bedi check-called 61,000 on the K♣7♥4♣ flop and another 75,000 on the turn before both players checked down the 6♠ turn. Lyall turned over A♦Q♥ gifting the 400,000 pot to Bedi who looked more than a little relieved that his tens were good. 'I don't know what I would have done if he'd bet the river as well,' Bedi told us at the break. It would have been a very tough spot.

Bedi is chip leader with 750,000 and Brammer iusn't too far behind with 629,000.

gogogogo.

Brammer Senior I think. Hair far too long for a man of his age

Good Luck Chris!

And what a spectacular success this UKIPT has been already, & will be. 768 runners in a Manchester comp, good grief. The DTD leg will be something to behold.

Thanks Simon, & yes, BAS was correct, thusly......

From a starting field of 518 players (229 on day 1a; 289on day 1b), the top 72 will be paid with the winner walking away with a massive £60,000 first prize.

Where did the earlier figure come from?

When the guys put up that first payout page they accidentally copied the style over from an EPT payout page and forgot to change the info at the bottom. Easy mistake to make under pressure, although I have chopped four of their fingernails off.

Payouts for this event seem totally effed up.

80 paid from 500 starters?

Only sieven times your entry fee for finishing 9th?

Paying 3 or 4 tables too many imo.

Oh and Dean Lyall is one strange cat, very peculiar fellow.

Doesn't he need to be at the table to win it though ?

10.33pm: Bloggers railed by final table in strange twist
Lyall has been penalised for six hands and is currently railing the PokerStars blogger (i.e. me). He claims that it's fine, he'll only lose 80,000 and still has 1m chips. It's a bizarre situation and he still fancies his chances six-handed and with a just below average stack he's definitely in with a good shout. Expect more fireworks when he sits back down.

10.42pm: Lyall's two hands to three rounds penalty ratio
Dean Lyall returned from his one round penalty and appeared directly in the big blind getting a walk. The very next hand he accused Chris Brammer of stealing his ante but witnesses claimed that the Lyall (who has had more than a few double Vodka Red Bulls) was the mistaken party. Lyall refused to accept the ruling but eventually raised Millan's big blind and won the pot but was slapped down with a fierce three round penalty from the tournament director. He is balncing on a knife edge of disqualification. Unbelievable stuff.

SEAT 4 - JACK ELLWOOD (1,467,00)
24 from Newcastle
Online name: 'jackellwood'
Plays poker for a living and as this is only his third live tournament Jack looks like he has a bright future ahead of him. The chip leader's largest win to date was $10,000 online.

Not anymore. Apparently this guy shipped the FTOPS ME and the UB major on Sun.

2p2 cliffs:

Fake comes on and says FTOPS winner is scammer and owes him money.
MTTc say WTF?
MTTc have collective orgasm as if this is true, a reg may get bumped to #1 and the jersey.
Jack's friends come on and defend.
Jack himself posts and outs all his screen-names on different sites to prove who he is.
Fake disappears. MTTc are slightly disappointed.
