Title: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: Karabiner on February 15, 2010, 04:53:37 PM Who fancies whom this week and why ?
I like the look of what appears to me like a resurgent Ernie Els and have availed myself of the 40/1 Laddies are offering. Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: Blatch on February 15, 2010, 05:00:27 PM Im had a couple of interest bets: -
Harrington @ 30/1 Goose @ 40/1 Sabbatini @ 100/1 Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: bobby1 on February 15, 2010, 05:02:15 PM hi Ralph,
Just doing some work on this now and there seems to be a bit of a lop sided draw this year with 2 of the groups looking to be a little easier to fathom(on papaer at least) than the other two. My first impressions were the super gunner has a decent draw with some plasyers in pretty poor form around him. Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: Blatch on February 15, 2010, 05:10:54 PM Have u got a link to the draw please?

I guess it would be a logistical nightmare to redraw so I am ten on any replacement will take his draw.

The "Snead" looks like the weakest quarter to me but I don't really fancy any of them much Phil. Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: bobby1 on February 15, 2010, 05:35:14 PM Thats what I thought too, the top and bottom brackets look the easier.
One other thing I just remembered, Ovilgy's wife gave birth to their 3rd baby last week so there has to be a chance he is not as sharp as he could be or his mind might be elsewhere, the good thing for him is he lives very close to this event so might be able to spend his down time at home but with a new addition that might not help his rest time all that much. Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: Scottish Dave on February 15, 2010, 06:15:04 PM Know nothing about this as I've not watched golf for months!
So for an interest I'm going to follow Blatchy boy with this one: Harrington @ 30/1 Goose @ 40/1 I'll probably get lesser odds tho, as I'm not the odds hunter that blatchy is I might pick one more, bobby pick one for me? Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: bobby1 on February 15, 2010, 06:20:19 PM Know nothing about this as I've not watched golf for months! Its a bit of a reach Dave but Stewart Cink has had all kinds of trouble driving the ball recently, this course is a little easier for iffy drivers as it is quite open, he ran 2nd to Tiger in this a couple of years ago(on a different course) and I like his draw, so at around 40 on BF I think he could give you a decent run but its wide open so its deffo a small stakes bet. Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: Scottish Dave on February 15, 2010, 06:27:23 PM Ok, Goosen out as TBH I don't really like the guy lol:

Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: Royal Flush on February 15, 2010, 07:26:19 PM Ok got 4 bets on atm:
Rory £100@17.5: obv one of the fav's but he is playing good golf and i think this is one of those events where being young and inexperienced plays into your hands, lag it up kid! Good thing with his draw is except his first round match he might be playing just Europeans till he gets mad deep which will be a good advantage for him. Stenson £50@34.0: Not the easiest side of the draw but i feel this reflects the price, excellent past form in this event. Karlson £50@44.0 Very tough side of the draw imo, is defiantly 'back' though excellent showing 2 weeks ago on the European tour, plz run gooooood. Villegas £25@85.0 Gotta have a mad LAG in the coup, ridic draw will have to face Johnson, Ogilvy then Stenson (hopefully) could all go horribly wrong when Johnson out driving him tilts him to death. Now my gem, Ishikawa £25@220.0 Fantastic talent from this youngster, i can't see him fearing anyone, don't see him doubting himself, could easily take to the format extremely well. In short 220 is a ridic price imo. Only tilting thing is he has to play the very exciting prospect of Sim in the first round (what a match that is going to be) then probs Stricker in round 2! Then hopefully Karlson in round 3. Happy punting. Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: sovietsong on February 15, 2010, 08:16:36 PM flushy, have you always enjoyed watching golf or did you start enjoying it more after you started playing?

Yeah started getting into it like mad after i started playing, its so much more entertaining when you can appreciate the ridic skill you are watching imo I doubt i have missed 10 mins of sky's golf coverage this year. Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: chrisbruce on February 16, 2010, 01:10:58 PM Ive been scratching my head all week on this.
So many players very evenly matched, anyone of the top 20 in the betting could win this and it would make sense after the event. For this reason Ive ignored the top players and will just have a punt on some of the generously priced outsiders. £20 on each of these guys Brian Gay @ 180 Rory Sabatini @ 130 Soren Hansen @ 170 Luke Donald @ 60 Charles Schwartzel @ 80 I hope to be a bit more active in the daily match bets and will post mine here. Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: Karabiner on February 16, 2010, 01:16:53 PM I've been matched now so can reveal that I'm on Harrington @ 34, and Francesco Molinari @ 160.
I'm already on Els @ 42 and have one more big priced player still to get matched. As Chris says above, it's really wide open as eighteen hole match-play is a sprint for these guys. Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: sweet potata! on February 16, 2010, 01:53:21 PM Small wagers for interest.....

This is my book: McIlroy = £70 Harrington = £140 Els = £170 Cink = £180 The Field = -£20 Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: Horneris on February 16, 2010, 03:53:00 PM Kept my bets v small, just for railing purposes, not planning to trade any point.
Padraig Harrington 32 £14.00 £434.00 Henrik Stenson 34 £13.00 £429.00 Camilo Villegas 80 £9.00 £711.00 Ryo Ishikawa 200 £7.00 £1,393.00 Francesco Molinari 150 £7.00 £1,043.00 seemed to have shorter prices than a lot of you guys, your so shrewd. Good thing with his draw is except his first round match he might be playing just Europeans till he gets mad deep which will be a good advantage for him. Ogilvy won 7 and 5 and only shot level par for the 13 holes he played, Cink shot 4 under par and needed to come from 4 behind after 9. Matchplay is a crazy game. Some nice possies for some tho, gl 2morrow guys. Flushy, that Ishi can play a bit can't he, what price do you reckon he would be if he was British and had curly hair? Go Go Go the 220 and 85, get me paiiiiiiid Title: Re: WGC Accenture World Match-play Starts Wednesday Post by: 810ofclubs on February 19, 2010, 03:22:30 AM i got ryo left at 180's ship it plz ryo

Its funny in a roundabout way, since Monty became Ryder Cup captain Poulter has been a different player coz he and Monty hate each other with a passion and Poulter knows he will not get a ryder cup pick from Monty. He seems to have made qualifying for the team his main aim this year, so Monty prob turned him into a better player. Story behind the hatred? I think it developed into a hatred of each other when Poulter came on tour and was pretty disrespectful to a lot of the older pro's. Monty tried to bring him down a peg or too but it just inflammed the sirtuation, Poulter basically told him he was a **** and past it. When Poulter didnt come back to Europe to play the last qualifying event of the last Ryder Cup, the rumour was that Falso had already told him he was in the team and not to worry, Monty being Monty still beilived he might get a pick and made loads of noise about captain shouldnt show pref treatment to some players and he Poulter should show more respect to the team by trying to qualify himself instead of knowing he had a pick. The rumour is that Poulte rang Monty and gave him an earful, soon after they were sat at ajoining tables in a restaurant and more angry words were exchanged again. So if there is any reason for Monty not to pick him he wont, just as Faldo would have hated to have to pick Monty if he had been in decent form ast time, the good thing for Poulter he seems to have been motivated to make sure he gets in the team and take the options for Monty not to pick him away fro Monty. He won in Asia at the end of last year and ran 2nd to Kaymer a few weeks ago before todays win and seems to really have his head on again because of it. |
