Mixed review at the end of Day 1 - I feel as if I could have played better, missing a couple of spots (and getting massively lucky once) but on the plus side heading back tomorrow with 55,500 chips Had a beautiful starting table with a couple of crazy players (David La Ronde, Ali Mallu) but no one to be particularly worried about. The first three levels, though, were pretty budget - lost a series of small pots including getting out-binked on 3 rivers and dropped to 7k - felt i was playing well though and was optimistic about getting back into it. Towards the end of level four (100/200/25) the young (scumbag local) player on my right limped the SB and gave some chat about "limping to trap the internet donkey" - LOL i thought terms like that were out of fashion a few years ago, but whatever. With T4cc i make it 475 more and he calls. On Qh-7h-3d-Jh-8c i bet 800, then 1250, and 1850 on the river (into just over 6k) with he tank-passes. The key hand for the night came a while later - I had steadily ground up to 32.5k and had been moved tables. The table was fairly passive except for Praz Bansi on my left (70k chips, opening close to 50% of the hands). I had been fairly active and felt that sooner rather than later he would 3-bet me in position. At 500-1000-100 i opened Aspades Ts to 2600, praz made it 6600 to go and I shipped. This feels right to me in the circumstances, partly as his 3-bet range in the cut-off vs me must be wide, partly as taking a stand here will hopefully slow him down and thirdly because 32.5k over the top of 6.6k seems about the perfect stack-size for the move (let me know if you think this is appalling - really interested to hear. At the time and thinking about it after, this feels like the right move, but of course this may be a huge error) As it stood he called and flipped Ad Qc board - Jd 8d 7c 7h 9s So feeling a little guilty i raked in 65k. The level ended 30 mins later, but not before I missed a big opportunity. An active player playing 52k I have not seen before opened to 2.5k (at 500-1000-100) in middle position. I re-raised with Ac Qd to 7.5k from a stack of 64k and he instantly shoved, saying something like "go on then, i'm all in" My gut said he was weak. I had already seen him make one crazy bluff, shoving 3xpot with K3 on A-A-5-T into 5-5. Plus I had been pretty active, so his 4-bet range was bound to be wider. I tanked for four minutes, counting out chips and trying to get a read, but he remained impressively confident-looking. When I passed and he showed Qc 9c I was pretty gutted, but I guess I knew it was a strong possibility and don't want to be too results-orientated So, generally happy with my play, but far from my best, but looking forward to heading back tomorrow with a stack that at least gives me a chance Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall M/E - sold out Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on February 27, 2010, 02:58:56 AM Don't 3bet without a plan pls. gl for tomorrow.
Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall M/E - sold out Post by: Rupert on February 27, 2010, 03:02:02 AM the AT is probs fine, but the T4 is lolbad as is having no plan with the AQ. did u expect him to flat u most of the time?
GL tomorrow though :) Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall M/E - sold out Post by: Numpty Dumpty on February 27, 2010, 03:17:45 AM the AT is probs fine, but the T4 is lolbad as is having no plan with the AQ. did u expect him to flat u most of the time? GL tomorrow though :) Hmm i do take the point about the AQ - I definately played it bad. Though saying that I did have a plan, which was pass to 4-bet. Most of the time i thought he would pass, as he was opening pretty wide. Obviously this is wrong. Before the hand I would have been surprised to find him capable of the big over-shove 4-bet. It was only as he actually made the bet and I had a gut feeling he was weak that I started to reconsider. I completely disagree, however, on the T4 hand. This guy may as well have been saying "don't bully me" and was arrogant enough to believe that I wouldn't dare do it. His call on the turn especially is likely to be with a weak hand plus draw combo, meaning the small river bet works a sufficient amount of the time to make it worthwhile on a relatively blank river. Gl Rutter!!! IMO your only error still is that you think those beanies that you wear are fashionable when in reality you look like a nob Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall M/E - sold out Post by: Marky147 on February 27, 2010, 09:37:58 AM GL Tom win mad ones!!

Tom Rutter doubles up February 27th, 2010 at 4:01 pm In a Battle of the Blinds he has AJ and Ian Woodley A6 and hits a JACK just to be sure, to be sure! He’s on 100k+ now and Ian down to 30k. Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall M/E - sold out Post by: Numpty Dumpty on February 27, 2010, 07:51:41 PM hey guys,
so..absolutely gutted to be out, but here's how it went down.. Started the day with 55k. Played a fair number of pots early on, taking a few with uncontested 3-bets and getting caught once. Got into a race fairly early doors against Trigg with 2-2 vs A-Q, door card queen, after he called my re-ship, which knocked me down to 30k. Built it back up to 42k and found Ad Jc in the SB. The previous round i had limp-passed to Ian Woodley, so decided to put in a fairly scared-looking raise to 4100 at 600-1200, at which point he committed himself with a raise to 22k, my Ad Jc being good against Ac 6h Then lost a fairly big pot re-shipping with K-J against the player that I thought was probably the tightest at the table, but he called with A-K (the already-mentioned getting caught!) and I was back down to 45k With 50k at 1000-2000-200 I raised utg to 4800 with Kd Qh. Colin Wu called in the SB (from a stack of 110k) and led a 9s 7d 4c flop for 7500 looking fairly weak. I raised to 19500 from my 46k (obviously giving up if he gives any more action) and he passed, so up to 64k. The very next hand Colin Wu raised the button to 5.5k and i woke up with Qs Qd in the BB. I 3-bet to 16k and he tank-shoved with Td 2d - so up to just over 130k Two hands later he shoved his remaining 30k with 8-8 and I had to call with 7-7 - start of the downfall Then came the interesting but inevitably sick hand. At 1200-2400-300 Wu opened to 7k in the hi-jack. The cut-off shoves 45k (which has been his standard move for the last 2 hours) and I find Ts Td on the button. I am never passing this hand in this spot and get my 100k into the middle, only for Tom McDonald to find Qc Qd in the small blind (incidently the re-raiser has Aspades Kc, but qeens held up). My last 16k went in with Ad Qh and couldn't improve against 6s 6d So.. out in 28th/29th. Sorry I couldn't bring home any bacon this time guys, really gutted tomove from 130k to out in ten minutes where I think all the hands play themselves. The next staking I will put up on here will probably be for a number of the smaller WSOP events over the summer as I doubt (due to exams) I will be able to play any major live events before that - hoping to head to Ireland but not bankrolled to play main event so may just head for some cash, a side event or two and the party! Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall M/E - sold out Post by: easypickings on February 28, 2010, 12:01:18 AM So gutted Tommy. Well played, and thanks for the reports.

FWIW is Mcdonald's shove with Queens also tough given all the action? Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall M/E - sold out Post by: chrisbruce on March 01, 2010, 11:53:09 AM WD Tom
