Title: Omaha, AAxx? Post by: thetank on December 15, 2005, 11:30:38 AM I'm not a big fan of playing AAxx too strongly pre-flop. Although I usually stick in a small raise with it as I like to be able to bet a decent amount on the flop if I hit my trips.
What would you do here? Title: Re: Omaha, AAxx? Post by: Ironside on December 15, 2005, 06:23:00 PM all in
you want to get AAxx heads up so you should get rid of cheerio also your AA is single suited and it also has a king so isnt just a plain old AAxx with unsuited rags get it in heads up and 99% of the time your going to be favourite Title: Re: Omaha, AAxx? Post by: M3boy on December 15, 2005, 06:36:52 PM I would call and see a flop.
I presume the other players were not THAT good? My reason for saying this, is with so many raises, I would assume them to have big cards, probably both of your aces. The best thing u could hope for would be the spade flush. What happened?? Title: Re: Omaha, AAxx? Post by: thetank on December 15, 2005, 06:42:01 PM I re-raised, not my usual play here but thought I'd give it a shot.

Title: Re: Omaha, AAxx? Post by: Ironside on December 15, 2005, 06:47:48 PM well if i had known cheerio was a fish likely to call with rags i might have thought twice about the reraise but i still think the reraies was the play with aces you really want to be getting the money in when you know your in frontrather than waiting for a flop them wondering if your behind to 2 pair or a set or even facing a wrap round and and flush draw
basically the only flop you mihgt like is if an ace hits with 2 unconecting off suit cards so get it in while your confidant your ahead Title: Re: Omaha, AAxx? Post by: Tractor on December 15, 2005, 08:18:32 PM In my experience at this level the re-raise just "spells out AAxx" and they will allstill call!
In my opinion on that flop you were lucky nobody had played the low cards but nice one all the same. Title: Re: Omaha, AAxx? Post by: M3boy on December 15, 2005, 08:43:31 PM I agree with tractor - n1, but lucky!!
Here is how to play AAxx : Goto http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=4526.0 Title: Re: Omaha, AAxx? Post by: Ironside on December 15, 2005, 08:44:47 PM m3 you forgot to tell us the board cards

But it's a hand I'd rather play than aces, you'll tend to know exactly where you stand post flop. Incidentally, Ironside, can we have another online Omaha tournament, possibly Hi/Lo this time? Title: Re: Omaha, AAxx? Post by: Ironside on December 16, 2005, 01:25:00 AM there is an omaha event planed for the 28th of december more details as soon as i get confirmation for the sites involved

My rule of thumb is I only re-raise with AAxx type hands if.. 1/The raise would be large enough to get 70% of mine, or all my potential opponents, stack in before the flop. AND 2/My AAxx has to contain at least one suited ace. Title: Re: Omaha, AAxx? Post by: thetank on December 16, 2005, 01:39:13 AM Good idea, I might make that rule 3
Title: Re: Omaha, AAxx? Post by: Ironside on December 16, 2005, 01:42:38 AM AA 92 4suited is still a winner v most of the best none AA hands and therefore its still a +ev play to get in all in preflop
the few times you are a slight dog there is already too many chips in the pot by the time you work that out to make folding a +ev play so again you have to get the chips in |
