Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Post by: tikay on February 26, 2010, 02:12:26 PM Chompy plays today, so from all the Luton regulars, & especially from me, good luck him.
Chompy played this Event last year, & at the end of Day One, he was on, iirc, 2nd place or thereabouts, with nearly 100,000 chips. He set off for Walsall on the Saturday for Day Two, only to get a call from the Hossie telling him that his brother had been seriously injured in a motor car accident, & was in intensive care. Naturally, he returned to the Hossie, & remained there all day. Fortunately, his brother recopvered fully, unlike his 90,000 chips, which gradually blinded away throughout Day Two. If there were any justice in life & poker (& of course there is probably not), Chomps would get a nice cash at Walsall this weekend. Good luck him, what he's done for the Forum, & G-Luton, with his blonde Leagues & stuff, is just terrific. Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Post by: AlrightJack on February 27, 2010, 03:14:40 PM It is indeed a very strong Day 2 line up, but perhaps that's cos most of the value got eliminated on the first day. The structure is different this year, with bigger starting stacks, so that will also favour the more skillful players. There is still some value left though, in the shape of Mr Bean, who managed to spectacularly blow up in Bolton last month when sitting on a massive stack. He also repeated this feat in Wednesday's super satellite. He had over 100,000 chips when the average was 15,000 yet still managed to finish 17th, with the top nine getting seats.

From gukpt blog... Tom McDonald raises from the button and called by Ali Mallu and Martin Davis. The flop is AcTd8s and they both check to Tom. “How much left, Martin?” He has 12k and that’s the bet. Ali announces raise and puts the 12k out there. “All-in” is the raise. Martin calls and Tom gets out of the way and shows pocket QUEENS. Ali and Martin both have KJ soooted and split it between ‘em. Martin has around 40k now. Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Post by: pleno1 on February 27, 2010, 05:00:53 PM colin wu is so tilty. clapping everytime he wins a pot.

Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Post by: buzzharvey22 on March 01, 2010, 07:24:38 PM i watched pretty much all of the final table and colin was the best player by an absolute mile, he had tom macdonald burried in his pocket all day, and it was only a matter of time for him to find something against mallu, and get his stack, he waited well.
however on the final hand, i do agree its an excellent call however i dont think it deserves cock sucking standard lol the guys line just did not make any sense if u though about how he had played all day. He played the nuts fast everytime, did not trap once ie AA against AK, Nut straight against Ali's bottom 2. If he had it he bet hard, if he didnt he folded. This basically states that if he did turn a flush, i'd be pretty sure he would have check raised all in, or atleast flatted the turn and lead the river, and if he did river a house, i again dont think he would have the nouse to check the nuts on the river. And he gave off some pretty impressive physical tells too, AA vs AK he went into his dead zombie mode, Nut straight vs bottom 2 he went into his zombie mode, the final hand he was bouncing round all over the shop, and actualy said something for the first time all day, i didnt even realise he was a full on brummie until this point. I said in the chatbox colin had broadway and its good (brag obv) Obv its still a great call, but thts just my perspective on it,,, Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Post by: outragous76 on March 01, 2010, 07:52:27 PM Lol
I too watched the entire final table, but I totally disagree with your comments. He could easily have had 2pr and filled up on the end and it would totally fit what you described! Calling the straight on a flushed and paired board was exceptional, oh yes and it was for the small matter of 25k . . . . Against a guy who had only played the nuts all day! Title: Re: GUKPT Walsall Post by: AlrightJack on March 01, 2010, 08:00:49 PM The difference was £18k. £57k v £39k.
He was in his zombie mode most of the final, whether he was in a hand or not. It was really quite strange. He would push his chair a foot away from the table and stare at the floor for long periods of time in an almost religious pose, leaning slightly forward and clenching his hands together.
