Title: Portsmouth fold, what happens to my bet?
Post by: Legionnaire on February 22, 2010, 02:18:48 AM
I had £200 @7/2 on Portsmouth to be relegated back in June. If the High Court rules against the club next Monday and they go out of business is my bet void, or do i get paid? I've spoken to a couple of bookie managers in this city and they don't seem very sure!
Naturally i wouldn't want any club to go out of business, whatever the bookmakers decide about my bet.

can't imagine any bookie paying you as they wouldn't have been relegated. they could use this argument to settle as a losing bet but surely the sensible answer is to void it

Void.  If your that worried, why not lay off on betfair now, you could lock up all but £40/£50.

i expect most large bookies will payout as a gesture. Only 2 go down if they do so its not like they will have to pay out on 4 instead of 3.

portsmouth will put themselves into administration about an hour before any unfavourable court ruling on insolvency

its not gonna happen - other than they will get -10pts and you will win your bet
