Title: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: Sack it off on February 25, 2010, 02:57:11 PM I'm looking for a good quiet restaurant in Nottingham, not necessarily expensive.
I'm considering the Curry Lounge. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: Bongo on February 25, 2010, 02:58:17 PM Higoi is really good if you're not in a big group.

If you want posh Curry go to Memsaab, also avoid 4550 Miles to Delhi If you want proper curry go to Noor Jahan ;) Other notable restaurants. Good Japanese restaurants don't do katsu curry - that's pretty much fast food. Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: Bongo on February 25, 2010, 07:05:14 PM IIRC the sashimi is based on what they can get fresh that's good so the menu doesn't list much.

Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: rex008 on February 25, 2010, 09:08:52 PM +1 on Higoi and Memsaab. Both excellent.
Last time I was in Memsaab was for a 40th birthday party. Some relative of the owner was also celebrating his 40th in there and ended up buying our table 2 bottles of brandy, and insisted on pouring it into any available empty glass. Was entertaining :). Superb curries. Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: MPOWER on February 25, 2010, 10:44:46 PM Ok here are the places to eat IMHO not from tripadvisor but places I go
Tom Browns @ Gunthorpe Iberico world Tapa's From the World Service Chino Latino for 4 Plus people Memsaab or 4450 from Dheli Out of town wagon and horses @ Halam nr Southwell World Service Perkins @ Plumtree ( Nr that dodgy Nursery) Regards M Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: lazaroonie on February 25, 2010, 11:26:04 PM http://www.thesoulvillesteakhouse.com/ excellent steaks i knew you were going to say that. but it is brill. hopefuly we'll go back there soon bud... Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: The Baron on February 25, 2010, 11:36:22 PM For Curry it's Mogul-E-Azam (behind the theatre) all day long, owned by former Notts Gala regular Mozam and his brother.
The Akbari Tikka is possibly the nicest curry dish I've ever tasted outside of my family's cooking. Waggon and Horses is good and near some golf courses i believe. It always seems to appear in the middle of nowhere though, or i get lost on the way there every time. I love MemSaab and i thought 4550 miles to Delhi was good but i haven't been there for a while. Curry Lounge is nothing to shout about and service isn't great. Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: KarmaDope on July 05, 2017, 03:43:54 PM BUMP.
Heading to Notts next month on a Saturday night and need a restaurant for a birthday event. Rather than make a new thread thought I'd regenerate one of these - and ask where would be best? Just the two of us. Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: MPOWER on July 05, 2017, 03:53:25 PM Iberico
Need to book now though for prime time Saturday Dont take a bar seat and be on the lower floor Black Miso Cod Onglet Beef Chicken Wings X2 Prawns X2 Stuffed Peppers Iberico Ham Sancerre My normal choices above all very good imho! Regards M Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: Woodsey on July 05, 2017, 04:19:38 PM Zaap Thai is pretty good. Good food and the place is done out like a Thai street food market and prices are fair, the only downside is you can't book and just need to turn up and wait, if your happy waiting 30 mins with a beer then it's fine.
Quite like red dog saloon for a burger. Petit Paris always a good option for French/European food. Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: EvilPie on July 05, 2017, 04:21:29 PM If you like curry I can't possibly recommend 'The Calcutta Club' highly enough.
If you don't like curry then I can't possibly recommend anything at all. Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: POWWWWWWWW on July 05, 2017, 04:22:42 PM Annie's is a burger place that is very very good, plus there's a bar below that serves all sorts of great drinks and has mario kart and other games.

Zaap - really Woodsey, i respect you as an authority on all things Thai, I know it is nicely done out inside but I thought the food and service was shite Red Dog Saloon - http://www.nottinghampost.com/red-dog-saloon-given-one-star-food-hygiene-rating/story-29973001-detail/story.html Petit Paris is always good Calcutta is by far the best curry, cant believe i have never bumped into you there Evil'Tikka'Pie Annies - so overhyped, always serving cold average burgers I would add Oaks for Steak, Cocktails, Live Music Reds over all the smoke house style places Mandarin for an out the way Chinese where Chinese people eat Baresca if you cant get in at Iberico Picollino if you want overpriced but nice Italian Title: Re: Good restaurants in Nottingham Post by: StuartHopkin on July 05, 2017, 04:37:26 PM For Curry it's Mogul-E-Azam (behind the theatre) all day long, owned by former Notts Gala regular Mozam and his brother.
