Title: Tricky Spot Playing NLH Cash
Post by: Karabiner on February 25, 2010, 05:22:27 PM
Playing a stack of roughly £350 in a £1/£2 NLH game at The Vic earlier this week.

There were a couple of limpers and I make it £8 to play from the cut-off holding Ah,Th.

The button who from what i have seen is a solid reg. cold calls, and one of the limpers comes along for the ride.

The flop is As, Ts, 3s. Checked to me and I bet £22.

The solid reg. button who has me covered in chips now makes it £75, the other guy folds and it's back to me.

Optimum course of action ?

is this a rake game? if it's one of the colludy regs, just fold as they'll have a nut hand 33/TT/flush only.

What is the raise size pre meant to achieve? doesn't seem big enough to get the pot hu/thin the field.

Yeah probs bet fold is best here, not much he can have that we have great equity against.

if he's a reg and it's the rake game, even more of a fold imo, barely any semi bluffs. paying rake is painful for them yo.

I'm probably making it like £12 after a few limpers. Feels so dirty to fold here. Dependant on who it is but I think I'd accept the dirty feeling and pass.

Not as dirty as having to sit and watch some of the blatant collusion in that 1/2 rake game.  ;madasahatstand;

I've played at the Vic a fair few times and never seen anything that I suspected of collusion. A lot of the regs aren't half as good as the vics regs are given credit for so if they do collude, they aint great at it!

meh this is specific to the 1/2 game. The 1/3 game is great, the 1/2 game is raked and that opens up a whole world of collusion/soft play possibilities. The same people every day sitting often in the same seats checking down the same uber strength hands vs each other paying zero rake it' so sick. Not like Vic would ever care though. obv the regs are pretty terrible but it's just so tilting the way the vic is run.

lol have you seen how unfriendly one or two of the cardroom managers or whatever they're called can be there? Only one who seems like a nice guy is Dr Raab.

The only helpful staff are the dealers/chip runners. the idea of starting a new game with 45 people on the list is a novel one to them always because of a 'lack of dealers'; though the second 2 players want to play some 50/100 there are multiple dealers ready to step in at a moments notice.

I had to leave last time after a foreign couple came and sat in the 1 and 9 seats. Obviously had played before with their chip riffling and table manner, yet the look of confusion when they trapped someone's money in the pot then re-raised him out of it, check check, check check, ah rivered nuts is good and yes as your oop you haven't 'technically' cheated but wp gg and die.............. oh and die management for not seeing a problem with it when I mentioned it.

It was what i would call a tempo raise, pot-building, gaining initiative and possibly the button too.

There were no apparent "colluders" in the game, just mostly nitty regs and a few youg guns like me.

Yeah I made the "dirty" fold and he declared(but didn't show) A?Ks. I have no reason to disbelieve him.

My thoughts were that he either had it already or had the nut/big draw and that I could find better spots.

I hate it when ppl soft play against each other.

in G manchester
in a tourney 4 hours in

these two friends (sb and bb)
sb completed bb checks

check check check check check check.

they havent even looked at their hands

sb made the nuts on the turn and bb has 2 pair on flop

i complain td says nothing that they can do.

That indeed was the other option Alex, but not one that I really considered.
