Title: Ultimate Gambler
Post by: lazaroonie on December 16, 2005, 12:45:46 AM
Im sure this is a repeated program, but anyway....

this guy is a complete tool.

He is supposed to be living like a "professional gambler". Well, I thought pro gamblers actually had some idea about the sport they were betting on.

Although by the looks of things, if he bet on only what he knew about, he would never place a bet.

Yeh it is a repeat, for some reason they've been showing it on Challenge and Bravo recently.

It's a funny program though, Cole Parker is a bit of comedian and you're right he doesn't have a clue half the time on what he's betting on. The episode when he's in Mexico and he goes to the dog track, meets some local british gambler who always picks winners but decided to go against him and puts on a $50 trifecta bet only to find out he's lost and the other bloke has won something in the region of $250 for a $6 bet. By the end of the series in Monte Carlo he hasn't lost that much money, he wins a lot of it back on roulette at the end.

He is a good BlackJack player tho, card counts and that.

I thought the point was to travel and find some of the most obscure sports to bet on?
I enjoyed it, good fun.

Watched it tonight when he was in Argentina. He got ripped off and scammed at every opportunity.

He was splashing the cash at the races, putting more money on single horses to win that most people in Argentina would pay for a car. He got extremely lucky and picked a straight up winner plus a combination bet where he successfully picked first, second, third and made a fortune. He noticed everyone staring at him and was told by the owners of the track to leave because they couldn't guarentee his safety. When he left in the taxi he realised he didn't have half as much cash as he should have, either he'd been payed short or pick pocketed. Instead of being a few thousand in profit he had made a £100 loss.

He's just a gambling addict.

I enjoyed the series though.

I used to go to the same school as Colin he's in all my old school photo's. Should have seen the size of his ears before he got them pinned back. God  knows how he went on to be a comedien and a tv presenter coz he didnt have a clue at school he didnt either bother turning up half the time and when he did he got sent home for trying to fight, but fair play to him he's obviously making up for it now even if he has'nt got a clue about betting.

You'll catch it on Challenge and Bravo at the moment for some reason. Round about 9-11pm usually, don't know exact times. It's good series and funny. Some of the countries he visits have mad ideas about what to gamble on. In Cambodia they bet on whether it'll rain or not you decide odds depending on if the sky is cloudy/dark or clear and blue.
