I have a new formula

Read all the press reports, going, tips etc
study the form hard
narrow it down to 2/3 horses
read the form again carefully
pick your winning horse

then lay it to lose

Worked for me today!!!!

1:30 Rivaliste is obvious enough but I'm going for JERED at twice the price.
2:05 If poker de sivola can win, we should back SMOKING ACES into odds on imo.
2:40 Tranquil Sea
3:20 Karabak and also cover to come 2nd to fav in f/c  I will actually be more interested in watching WAR OF ATTRITION run, I am building up a position on the Grand National on him.  He is getting a run over hurdles here (I presume so as not to phuqq about with his chase rating) but I will be happy to watch him cover the ground well enough.
4:00 Victorias Groom looks better than a 40/1 shot, small interest
4:40 Only suckers and sickos would bet on this race.  I'm going with Gallant Nuit...

I absolutely adore Katchit, he won a Triumph and a Champion Hurdle carrying my money and he's a grand little fighter.

I might have to have a little ew on him for old time's sake.

I had Katchit on both occasions  too, one of my favourite and one of the most profitable horses I've followed, definitely a speculative punt tomorrow but cannot resist him at Cheltenham.

As for my attempt to get out on Friday I was having £50 on Denman but didn't have a Laddies account so opened one and also have my £100 free bet on Denman too so really I have £50 at 12/1.

Deep Purple in the Ryanair Chase.  25/1 now.  The trainer's asst rode 6 (six) winners for Lawney Hill at last weekend's PTP's and never tells them anything about Evan Williams nags but made an exception here.  He says the horse is better than they have ever had it and they were considering tackling the Nicholls beasts in the Gold Cup but have opted for this instead.  If you consider that this horse's best form would have him close to favouritism here then 25/1 is very big.

Agree is good value.. Also think Voy Por is massive @ 16's in this... was odds on in this last year and only got beat by Imperial Commander... First time all year has had his gorund and trip and festival form speaks for itself.... Great bet EW imo

Somehow managed to break even yesterday. Thank God for these bookies being 1/4 odds a place all races. This is really the best weeks gambling of the year.

Onto today..

The only big ante post bet on a handicap I've had runs today:

Hey Big Spender ew @ 14/1. I really fancy this and unless it goes to silly to one, I'm keeping the lot.

Second race is probably a pass, although with 5 places on offer I'm open to suggestions.

I haven't played in race 3, but I'm funking against Poquelin, who I wanted to bet but I kept missing the boat, certainly not backing him at around 3/1.

Karabak each way in the fourth selects himself.

I haven't played in the fifth yet, but on Shillingstone in the last..

GL all.

PS Katie Walsh in the first yeaterday was absolutely horrible to watch. Like going back int time 30 years when jockeys used to abuse horses.

Francome had a proper go yesterday at one of the jockeys who whipped the horse on its ribs ...

Walsh AND Carberry both picked up bans for "excessive use" after that race.

The style of his racing makes that pretty/very unlikely.

Much better the bookies who are offering 5 places in the handicaps today (ie not Ladbrokes!)

4 days she got... I think she deserved a month. I counted 25 proper strokes, plus countless slaps down the neck.

It was the worst I've seen for years and soured what should have been a great achievement for her.

In a word, yes.

However, I really think this horse is going to the top he won't see a handicap mark like this again for many years imo.

Backed a couple of horses so short this week I wouldnt normally touch them.
I still blame Get Me Out of Here as that would have started me off 4 figures in profit :(

lol. i'd just say that at cheltenham specifically the racing is of such a high and competitive standard that short priced favs are kinda your road to ruin. seen so many hotshots get turned over by the up and coming new superstars year after year, it makes it exciting thats for sure.

oh and here i've gone for atouchbetweenacara ftw. trainer is very shrewd at the festival and this one has had a little easing from the handicapper after a couple poor runs on soft ground. course and distance win from the end of last season is a huge advantage and today could see a big run from him.

ofcourse he could also run like a pig and gg magic beans

On my way to my first day of 0 winners on any day in the festival in 6 years unless Shillingstone (AP @ 12/1), Boychuk or Ma Yahab get the job done.

Dark times.

It will be even darker if Shillingstone doesn't win. Sleep with both eyes open pal.

I think we should go for a forum concensus on the best way to back K Star and Denman and all lump in the same way.

Mass celebration or mass misery!
