I like Tell Massini in the AB, if he was trained by Nicholls or King he'd be a 5/2 shot. I'm on Ashkazar and Alaivan ante post. So he starts talking:
"I'm more of a horse man me. Great man that Paul Nicholls. I know a bloke who knows someone who has a mate who works in his yard. There's a horse called Najaf running on Friday it's about 20/1, great each way bet so they tell me". So like a mug, and on the basis I can't pick a thing, I have £50 each way at 20's. Cheer him home in the 2.40, it's my last hope!! And come on Denman, you're my racing hero. as in some circumstances they replace the bet for you at the actual price then wont let you void it. I spotted an error with Stan James once so got involved, then they cancelled it, replaced it at at the real price then i had to speak to a team leader of customer services to get it voided and it took ages. Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: NigDawG on March 19, 2010, 03:06:15 AM im bored and cant sleep so thought id give a run down of my bets today with a bit of reasoning for each. feel free to follow/lay/slate/laugh
1.30 - westlin winds 12/1 - the horse that beat it last time out would probs of been fav today but for injury, but he wasnt beaten far and alan king rated his one as his best. prior to that he hacked up in two small events but if he had a different trainer/jockey he would be half the price he is today. 2.05 - secret dancer 22/1 - this race is always ultra competitive and you could make a serious case for about 12 but this horse had a good run over course and distance this season (where he finished ahead of the paul nicholls fav today off level weights). that was back in november but the form has worked out very well with the horses around them that day all running with credit in much better races. my selection has been lightly raced and could be open to some improvement, last seen running a decent race for a long time before stamina might have emptied on him over 2 1/2 miles vs tuesdays champion hurdler 3rd zaynar again at cheltenham. 2.35 - shinrock paddy 9/1 - shinrock paddy has only been beaten once in his career and that was in the bumper here last year to dunguib but this horse was always going to need a trip and the 3miles should be perfect. his impressive grade 1 win last time out suggests he has a touch of class about him too. 3.20 - purely a spectating race for me. i'd love to see denman win in good style but it doesn't look likely. 4.00 - i love racing and i understand the importance it has for the sport but i just hate these races lol (same as the cross country) so i didn't even look at it. 4.40 - clova island 14/1 - again ridiculously competitive, well done if you can pick the winner here. i like 3 or 4 but going to go for the in form trainer hobbs with an improving sort down the bottom of the handicap. won eased down last time out and has run behind some good horses including a run behind wednesdays coral cup winner spirit river. with a good jockey on board (has more relevance in these type of races) taking a 3lb claim off i think he has as good a chance as any. 5.15 - pepsyrock 25/1 - to finish the festival off we have another handicap where you're hard pressed to find a winner. i've gone for what looks like the forgotten horse of nicky hendersons string. its not very often you will find tony mccoy on a 25/1 shot but this young horse was in good form this time last year on good ground. he hasn't had ground like that since and im hoping this could be the difference today. 25/1 could look big if he turns up on his A game for it. We'll all be in the Skyrack and surrounding areas buddy, come say hi if you get bored. what was the name of the club in the cornmarket area that was done like a hospital and had 'nurses' working behind the bar, and also had hospital style beds upstairs to 'chill out' Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: Josedinho on March 19, 2010, 02:51:24 PM On quel esprit
Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: Pelham Boy on March 19, 2010, 02:54:04 PM I quite like Arcalis in the county hurdle. A good ground horse with good festival record. Finished like a train to finish 7th last year now 16lb lower. I'm on e/w at 50/1. wtf. O'Regan weighs in 3lb higher than he weighed out! How can that happen? Horse beaten 3 lengths. Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: Horneris on March 19, 2010, 02:57:06 PM wtf.

If it ducks we can all blame Bedi :D Was thinking the same! rotflmfao Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: henrik777 on March 19, 2010, 03:49:33 PM Imperial Commander is as good an each way as I'll ever have, but if Kauto goes on Big Bucks like drift, I'll have to back him. I like Tell Massini in the AB, if he was trained by Nicholls or King he'd be a 5/2 shot. I'm on Ashkazar and Alaivan ante post. Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: Bigfella on March 19, 2010, 05:44:17 PM I was in a black cab last weekend and asked to go to the Vic. He soon got out of me I was going to play poker. So he starts talking: "I'm more of a horse man me. 2nd damn Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: LeKnave on March 19, 2010, 05:50:53 PM lool just did a monkey on the 5:15 to try get out.

Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: Colchester Kev on March 19, 2010, 07:57:00 PM Shares in all the boookie chains up shit loads I suppose.
Also, can anyone give this staement any credibility ? "Big Bucks would have been a 4/7 or 1/2 shot if Master Minded and dunguib had won" Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: Horneris on March 19, 2010, 08:19:02 PM I guess the bookies probably had big liabilities on trebles and doubles with those 2 with Big Bucks so wouldve had to lower the price.
Also favourite backers wouldve been filling their boots on Big Bucks with their returns from Dunguib and Master Minded so the price wouldve been lower. Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: Josedinho on March 20, 2010, 12:34:51 AM Has there ever been more after timers than today? In the pub earlier everyone was Kauto or Denman. Went back down tonight - everyone had backed Imperial Commander and not one person had backed Kauto.

Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: Biddy 62 on March 20, 2010, 10:03:12 AM Miserable week, not backed a winner, intended backing Imperial but got stuck into the dark rum a bit early and had it in a forecast with Kauto. Bring on Aintree.
Title: Re: Cheltenham Festival Day 4 Post by: sovietsong on March 20, 2010, 10:18:03 AM I backed Kauto for far too much money, to cheer me up though I was watching the race in the staff room at work, as Kauto fell my good friend cheered, started jumping around and proceeded in getting about 10 betting slips out. He had backed the first 3 horses in the race all for 50p each way.
