Title: End of Season "Fixed" Italian Games
Post by: Blatch on March 25, 2010, 04:38:44 PM
Well its that time of season again, where shall we just say that some of the Italian games are suspected to be fixed.  I remember watching a game back in the Gazza era on Channel 4 when they showed Seria A games.  AC Milan were playing an incredibly boring game when in the 85th minute an 18 yr old came on for his debut and within a minute cracked one in from 25 yards out.  He goes mental running around celebrating, as he would scoring on debut, he then turns round to celebrate with team mates and only one has congratulated him and even one has his hands on his hips.  Funnily enough the oppo who hadnt had a shot on target then went straight from the kick off, rounded the keeper and scored with hardly a challeneg going in.  Again funnily enough the draw had been heavily backed before the game.

Its now known what goes on but no proof can ever be made.  It is alleged that some members of the Mafia who own and run the clubs agree on a result in return for cash or so they call in favours in following seasons.

In recent seasons ive seen a relegation threatened team win away from home after going off at 1/3 but most results are the draws.

Last week 98% of betting on a game was gambled on a draw and the price went from 2/1 into 1/2 and the 1:1 correct score was even matched at slight odds on.

Im gonna try to update this thread and let people know as suspect games coming u.p.

1st one is this saturday.  Modena vs Piacenza - the odds on the draw at present are 5/6 best price with VC and 4/5 with laddies.

They tend to shorten while all lemmings lump on and then drift when people lay off.  However I couldnt say with any great confidence.

Thats the prob Dave, if these games were truly bent you wouldnt be able to get a bet on. As we know, if the Italians want to fix a result they do. These other games where its clear as day that there is a 'mutual benefit from taking a draw each' are priced like that.

So taking 4/5 when its clearly a price that takes into acciount the fact that a draw suits both is following like a lemming to use Batch's phrase, coz the price has taken all that into account.

As for using phrases like lemmings following on, what exactly is taking 4/5 the draw doing??

I think so, there was a thread a couple of weeks ago, plus it was in the papers up here about it.

there have been 3 so far, 2 drawing 1-1 which was the supposed plan, and 1 finishing 2-0.

Luckily Snowball was in for £500 in the 1-1 results and only managed to be £70 matched in the 2-0 game.

Good Times!

How fortunate that he piled into both the 1-1 draws but only got on for minimum and totally swerved the two that went tits up.MBN

I guess there is more than a few good reason to be a Celtic fan then eh.

I think the small loss in the 2-0 game showed the vulnerablity in these bets too tho, it's a lot of outlay at terrible prices on a romoured outcome.

I have bet football for a living for over five years now and have followed these so called bent games for about twelve years since I was a trader for a big bookmaker and I don't think there is any value in betting them.  For sure there are some dodgy things that go on at the end of the Italian (and other leagues) seasonsbut they is a lot of rumour and counter rumour too.  I wouldn't want to be backing them.

0 - 0 What a suprise!

Keep putting them up, seems like easy money to me.  As a footie fan though, this is just real bad for the game, blatantly rigged.  Puts me off the game knowing this type of stuff is happening.

Theres a chap on twitter who puts up about 10 for every saturday that are odds on draws.  Mostly Italian, I've just put down the shorest odds one/most famous teams, personnally I don't bet on them, but it is interesting.
