Carrey Mulligan favoured for My Fair Lady remake Carrey Mulligan is set to star as Eliza Doolittle in a remake of My Fair Lady according to Emma Thompson. Rising-star Mulligan, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in An Education, appears to have beaten off several high-profile actresses who have also been linked with the role, including Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley. The actress had previously denied she would take the part, made famous by Audrey Hepburn in the 1963 classic. However when asked by BBC 5 Live who would play Eliza, Thompson - the screenwriter of the remake - replied: "I think Carey is set to play it, yes." The film tells the story of a Cockney flower girl who turns into a lady under the guidance of Professor Higgins. Tony (Tikay) Kendall the TV presenter has been linked to the role of the Professor, according to some reports. Added Thompson: " I'd love him to do it, he might want to, he might not want to, so we don't know yet. But wouldn't it be loverly." The Stage version part of Higgins is played by Christopher Casanove, So Tikay was the obvious choice sources have said Tikay was not available to comment Title: Re: Tikay to star in West End Musical Post by: rex008 on April 01, 2010, 09:00:09 AM Would be incred, obv. Title: Re: Tikay to star in West End Musical Post by: The-Crow on April 01, 2010, 11:12:57 AM Tikay had told me he was upset, not getting the part of Dr. Doolittle last year,
as he had been seen talking to animals and birds on You tube awhile ago, Sadly he did not get that part So he is very pleased to be offered the Professor Higgins role. He will be allowed to use his catchphases "Behave " and " get yer chips in first " Good Luck Tikay |
