Title: DTD May Deepstack - sold out Post by: Claw75 on April 26, 2010, 01:03:33 PM Been a while since I played one of these, and hoping to make a return this weekend whilst I'm running and playing well.
I'm looking to shift 40% at £43 per 10%. The markup is not because I think I have a significant edge on the field (although I obviously wouldn't be playing if I didn't feel I had some edge), but mainly because, with expenses, the actual cost to me of playing the tournament is going to be around £450. the usual stuff: http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=91885 http://www.officialpokerrankings.com/pokerstars/Clairep75/poker/results/706A2FA498B4450EAA23E354939B17E9.html?t=2 Title: Re: DTD May Deepstack Post by: EvilPie on April 26, 2010, 01:47:03 PM I don't mean to sound harsh Claire but if you really want to play sell at spot and suffer the expenses.
You're asking stakers to pay for your food and hotel for 2 or 3 days and I don't think they'll do it. If it's still too expensive just play the £150 instead. Times are hard in the staking world Claire and I think this may be a struggle. Title: Re: DTD May Deepstack Post by: Claw75 on April 26, 2010, 01:51:39 PM not quite asking people to pay for expenses Matt - just a small proportion of them. (£40). People can read the proposal and take it or leave it - it's black and white and I've not hidden anything.
thanks for the input though just in case anyone missed something! :) 30% left btw. Title: Re: DTD May Deepstack Post by: GreekStein on April 26, 2010, 01:56:59 PM not quite asking people to pay for expenses Matt - just a small proportion of them. (£40). why should they though Claw? It also sets a bad precedent for future staking threads. I don't mean to rock the boat (for once!) but if you feel you are +EV in this tournament (with no justification of how so) then the additional cost you are charging is going to make the investment a -EV one as I don't think you're average return over a decent sample in this tourney will be above £430. gl at DTD Title: Re: DTD May Deepstack Post by: Claw75 on April 26, 2010, 02:03:45 PM I don't think you're average return over a decent sample in this tourney will be above £430. based on? Title: Re: DTD May Deepstack Post by: GreekStein on April 26, 2010, 02:22:34 PM I don't think you're average return over a decent sample in this tourney will be above £430. based on? Several factors. I'm also assuming your lifetime ROI is negative going by your hendon mob and knowing some of the stuff you've played. I've played against you. I've also played the DTD £300 about 6/7 times and know the standard of the tournament. Now I've bought a piece of you in a tournament before so I'm by no means saying you're bad. I'm just saying I don't think you're +EV at £430. Sell a bit at spot to lessen risk / variance / cost etc imo but you should pay costs. By the same token, on what basis do you think you're +ev? Title: Re: DTD May Deepstack Post by: outragous76 on April 26, 2010, 02:27:14 PM I have already made my thoughts about this on another thread, and by no means wish to bash
however, you are technically asking for £104 in expenses, although your net return is only £40 ish. i'd give an ex boyfriend a call and see if he will stake you, seems to be a +ev route all round from what ive heard! ;D Title: Re: DTD May Deepstack Post by: Claw75 on April 26, 2010, 02:39:40 PM I don't think you're average return over a decent sample in this tourney will be above £430. based on? I don't keep records of live play as I'm a recreational player, so it's difficult to say what my lifetime ROI is. I had a profitable 2008, mainly from regular tournaments at Luton. My total lives wins that year amounted to something in the region of £12,000 from playing small tournaments, with the odd stab at a bigger one thrown in. 2009 wasn't great for me in many ways - real life or poker, and the former affected the latter. I believe it was at this stage early last year that I played against you. You as well as anyone know that you can't base an opinion of someone's ability on sharing a table with them for a couple of hours. Nevertheless, last year was profitable for me poker wise due to a couple of online binks but, you are right, negative live as I had a stab at a couple of bigger tournaments including a couple of deepstacks and a GUKPT, and total live winnings last year amounting to only around £5,000. This year has started well for me - my head is in a better place, I'm playing well and am in profit so far (hence my being in a position to consider having another pop at a big tournament). Finally, same reasons as you, I've played the tournament a few times before, I know the general standard across the field, and I know that my game as it is today is good enough. I didn't start this thread to try to justify selling myself to people that don't know me - I'd only really expect people that play with me regularly and have confidence in my ability to perhaps buy at this rate. In hindsight I should probably have tried to sell privately as my name probably doesn't fit with this kind of proposal. Title: Re: DTD May Deepstack Post by: Claw75 on April 26, 2010, 03:48:09 PM another 10% gone via PM. 20% left.
