Title: Ian Holloway
Post by: jjandellis on April 28, 2010, 08:06:11 PM
Now I'm very biaised, being a Blackpool fan, but how good will it be if we get into (and through) the Championship play-offs??? Not only will we be in the Prem - but the nation will get to sample the delights of Ian Holloways pre/post match comments :-)

C'mon Doncaster, force a draw at Swansea for us...

Whats your thoughts on Holloway??

He's gotta be up there with Hughton for Manager of the year...

Classic small club/chip on their shoulder club manager

failed with us big time and was a complete clown with completely daft tactics and signings. Compare him to Pearson for evidence

done great at QPR and Blackpool, I hope they make the play offs as they are easier to beat than Swansea

We are 99% certain to play Cardiff. We can't finish lower than 5th. We will lose. On the off chance we win, I'd like to play Forest in the final (what an occasion that would be), failing that Blackpool

I fear Blackpool , lastteam to beat us at City Ground this season and generally do well against us, prefer Swansea with Cardiff in Final but have to take whatever we get

Yeh surely Pearson is manager off the year? O'Driscoll (sp) has done well
Blackpool had a bit of money put into them in the summer.
I think Holloway is a bit of a joke and his funny comments sometimes just hide his failings but i've not got anything against him or Blackpool as it is entertaining.

Absolutely sure. He couldn't play the league game for the same reason

chip on their shoulder club manager

I know he did pretty miserable/badly with you and can understand you not rating him.  But not quite sure what the above comment means?

imo he's done wonders at Blackpool, look at the 5 teams whove finished below and their budgets.

Decent guy I think, does a lot for deaf charities too as 3 of his 4 are deaf.

I meant that he has proven himself to be a good club manager where budgets are limited and expectations are low. From Bristol R to QPR (at the time they were potless) to Plymouth and now Blackpool. He has an eye for a bargain, plays attacking football and motivates well.

His one foray to a place where money was available and expectations high (wrongly, we were a mess), with transfers of "name" players rather than players with a poiint to prove, wasn't a success

I also know he is a good guy and has a heart of gold. The media profile which he assiduously develops and courts publicity  though paled a little/grated a lot when he was struggling with us, as it would for the Leicester fans
