Title: Vivere La Vita Buona
Post by: TightEnd on May 25, 2010, 09:47:13 AM
2 tables remain, Live MTT, 14 left

5 paid

Hero 34,000

Villain 23,200

Average 18,000

blinds 600/1200/100

Villain UTG limps. Italian player. Appears inexperienced. As well as playing monsters, pairs (occasionally with a raise but limping more than he should) will limp any paint, any Ace. No idea of bet sizing pre or post flop

Small blind completes

Hero in big blind checks option with  5d 6s

Pot size 4,200 (seven handed)

flop  2h 7c 8c

All check

turn  9c

Small blind checks, Hero leads for 2,500

UTG min-raises to 5,000 with 17,000 back

Folded to Hero, who does what?

Hate the min raise from someone who appears clueless.

I really don't know what I'd do here. It one of those where you need to be at the table and even then you're likely to get it wrong.

I guess call the turn but I can't help thinking that I'm facing an all in on the river where I have to lay down.

Maybe I'm giving Italian dude too much credit. You'll know better Tighty. Can he do this with 2 pair? If he can then I guess we're never going away so call now is fine.

I suppose we can call now then bet/fold river for about 7.5k. Even then how do we know that the clueless player won't turn his 2 pair in to a bluff and shove on us thinking he's good?

Tough spot mate to say what a nice hand you have.

I think a call here is fine. Clueless player may well be raising 2 pair to see where he's at. Don't think he calls a shove without the flush so think that's pretty spewy.

Part 2 of hand: river card?

I raised. I wondered if he had a wonkily played overpair, or two pair and thought I was ahead. If he had the flush, so be it

He shoved. I sigh called and was shown  9s 9h

I faded the full house outs

He did min-riase, and then shoved over the top of Tighty's raise.
