JUNE DTD DONKAMENTS LEAGUE

The DTDOnline Donkaments League to begin Tuesday 1st June, a league involving the nightly DTD guaranteed comps.
 
Players should play any of the following events on any nights in June:

19:30 Deepstack €20 + 2, €3.5k guaranteed

20:35 €10 + 1, €3.5k.

21:00 €25 + 2.5, €4k guarantee.

Your top five results in any of these competitions in June will count towards a League table.

Points only count if people mention on the thread that they're playing before they actually play, with their DTD username.

Points system

Winner = 25 points

Top three = 15 points

Final table = 12 points

11th -20th = 9 points

21st - 30th = 8 points

31st - 40th =  7 points

41st- 50th = 6 points

51st- 60th = 5 points

61st- 70th = 4 points

71st - 80th = 3 points

81st -90th = 2 points

91st - 100th = 1 point

Wednesday bonus.

The highest recorded finisher on any Monday or Wednesday in June will receive a five point bonus in addition to finishing position points

Remember, only your top five scores count.

Play as many times as you like, the more you play the more chance you have of winning one of 2 Twenty20 DTD tournament entry prizes (or entries to equivalent value, depending on the DTD Schedule) for first and second in the league and winning a competiton with a decent guaranteed prize pool while you are at it

all the gtd tourneys are either missing or reduced

for example the 25 buy in 4k gtd at 9:00 has changed to a 2.5k gtd

the 25k gtd has become 20k and so on

Did they often not make the guarantees?

Every time I played they made the money easily enough. Seems strange to change them without good reason.

Would this be a DTD thing or Boss?

Wont be playing this again, cost me 40+ euros which tbh is well above my bankroll. I deposited £50 coz I was in the mood to play but a starting stack of 1000 means you HAVE to rebuy and the addon of 4k chips for $20 means you are p***ing against the wind if you dont.

Good game and I enjoyed it, standard was pretty good but mostly card dead.

Just a thought but does it not make the league a bit difficult for those of us who would like to play on a tight budget?

The 3 euro @ 7.30 had 447 runners, 8.30 had 148 and the 9.30 had 145 which makes it quite easy to make the points if you play the latter 2.

Might encourage some non league players to play the 3 euro if the point system was a bit fairer.

Coaching obv helped as I dont usually get so close to the cash :-)

Suzanne unfortunately some of the comps we were using for the league were taken off the schedule, which was a shame as they worked well for this.

So went with Redsimon's idea to put the $3 in but as you say you have to fight your way through 400-500 people there to score points

It's not my intention to make it tricky for people with limited bankrolls to be competitive in this league at all, merely just had to put something in place at short notice for this month

Perhaps anyone who makes the top 100 in the $3 should get double points, or perhaps for next month try something different?

I like these leagues, and so do some of you. Sadly, as ever, I think they are 20-25 participants light of what I would like.

Didn't spot the 20 euro addon in that rebuy event. An alternative would be to include the 7.45pm 1 euro 3 rebuy no addon event instead? Or change points scored to be based on field size?

We have over the past month been analysing in great detail the IPN Network Schedule, in preparation for the seasonal decline during June, July, & August in the poker industry. As such we have changed the schedule to create a cleaner, better offering for your players. These changes will take effect from the 1st of June.

Matt, its any evening trny 140 or more runners. If more than 300 run then points score are uplifted by 50%... 10 euro rebuys do count as long as they are over 140 runners...

Why aren't more people playing this month? The change to the network schedule and the loss of the deepstack/guarantees I assmue. Any other reasons?

Not sure if its the loss of Gtd pools as mostly they were breached anyway. It seems like very few blondites play online at the BP/DtD room generally?

Unfortunately that is true and ultimately will make the site unviable, certainly in terms of any live updates/articles and anyone keeping the site active, if it doesn't change.

Nowithstanding that, we're 10-12 runners down on this league compared to March-May

I've other things going on at the minute and can't afford to throw away money at unfocused poker.  Would love to be in a position to do so as I have in the past, but afraid it's not an option right now.  That said, when I'm feeling up to it I'll be there with bells on.

In answer to h, I doubt the schedule will be changing for mext month. The network have removed some guarantees and changed around to reflect a seasonally slow time.

The question for you guys is, what sort of league do you want for mext month? More of the same? Any ideas for something different?

i have 43 points after last nights sterling performance in a 300 runner replaced a performance in a 299 runner :)

I am asking those who didn't play this month, but did previously.....of course...and anyone else!

I must say I preferred it when a game was picked once or twice a week,   I am sure most people would not mind playing maybe one higher priced game and maybe one or two smaller priced re-buy games. 

I cannot understand why more people don't enter.  I only play poker for fun myself and I do realise that many of the Blondes are serious poker players and it is their main livelihood, but there are many Blondes, like me, who cannot afford high priced games and play for fun, perhaps they could say why they are not interested. I also think it makes a person more disciplined in their play when they are playing for points.

You might be surpised to see how few Blondeites are dependent on poker for an income. If I Was I'd Starve :)

A regular league night (PLO included 1 week please!) for a BP only with say points from 1st out to winner plus on  non reg. nights a similar scoring system to what we are doing in June might get more with say top 4 scores in the month counting so volume only helps to aincreae rake BP benefit from?

I like the leagues, but like Nellie, I only play for fun, and only when I have the time. Last couple of months there has been very little of that, unfortunately, and when I do get a free evening, there is often a choice between various things (catch up on some telly, watch a film, play poker), and the drive to play poker seems to have lessened somewhat now there isn't a specific tourney, or set of tourneys, to compete with other blondes in. I'm also resticted in that I can't play anything before about 8:30 because before that is kids time, and I can't really commit to a particular day each week as my free evenings are fairly random days of the week. Obviously with the change to the scheduling, it makes it hard to pick a set of tourneys that will appeal to all, and are convenient times and buyins. Personally I prefer to play something between £15 and £30, upper limit is bankroll, lower limit eliminates some of the donkeys that we all love to see in poker, but are frustrating in MTTs.

I'm also quite happy to not just play NLH. I enjoy the other games, and often try the low-limit tourneys for fun (HORSE, which I've got a decent record in, 5 card stud, badugi, etc). Not sure how many of these are regulars on DTD.

Anyway, that's my excuse, not sure what I'd suggest though.

First of i think the idea of set tourneys rather than a blonde only mtt has worked and is better ( EvilPie,s idea i think or was it Dewi)
blonde only is a little incestuous  IMO

The reality is i will play whatever the format
I agree that playing for points help you focus on running deep (points = prizes )
I also think specified gtd tourneys were working well until the schedule change so we can compete in same tourneys

i think it should be based on gtd tourneys number of runners not being relevent

as for getting more to play perhaps for a month a focused approach could be tried ( 3 nights a week 3 or 4 specified tourneys ranging from 3 euros to 25 )
in that way you could blitz thread and ha rang the hell out of everybody as Kev used to for is Wednesday night donkathon 
if we could get more numbers then i think it might be an idea to amend prize structure to pay more places and include the smaller buy in comp at dtd

A few points:

I can't believe this isn't attracting more support with the two £112 seats at Dusk Till Dawn up for grabs. But with this level of support I can't believe they'll be on offer much longer. Are they not as attractive due to the cost of getting there? Perhaps offer one seat with £112 expenses to one winner rather than two seats to two winners with the consequent expense? No help to me as I'm only £5 of diesel away. Might make people from further afield sit up and take notice though?

It might be that the blonde community isn't as strong as it once was and we're putting the cart before the horse, i.e we should be asking how to strengthen the community feel of the forum which will then lead to increased interest in the leagues?


Pretty much this - but I wouldn't be keen on playing non-holdem variants as frankly I haven't got the faintest idea how to play them but I'd even give those a go so long as everyone promised not to laugh at me and make me cry.

I thought the initial idea for the revised format was great - it's a shame that schedule got shredded. I was gutted when the 7.30 €22 Deepstack went as I loved that tournament but I seem to have found a set of tourneys which quite suit me for a slightly lower total daily buy-in. So personally I'm quite happy with the current set-up but accept it can't carry on like this (at least not with the added value).

It would be nice to throw at least one blonde-only tournament per week into the mix if that's possible now on DTD - not sure how you'd arrange for the points awarded to be equitable with the bigger fields of the other tourneys though. Perhaps we could include any tourney by awarding points based on percentage profit made?

Obviously getting the old boy's arm up his back and getting him to multi-table while playing on Sky would be a big draw. We could call it the Lord Lucan tourney - bonus points to whoever knock's him out.

Reasons i have not re-deposited,

I don't like the software,ask me why?I can't put my finger on it-I just don't.
World cup,time of year,been playing live a lot more.
Schedule is poor,even before the guarantees were reduced.I've just checked my records and last year i played 845 mtts on the Blonde ipoker skin,being a shift worker there was almost always something with a decent mtt prizepool to enter,BOSS just hasn't got the numbers.

I am going to give the formal league a rest in July

Whilst I am grateful for the few players playing regularly in the leagues, its difficult for me to justify the added value budget from DTD for so few players.

I will instead arrange some one off's/perhaps a mini league with a different format for later in the month

Hardly a surprise with the low turnout but thanks for the value that's been added. Hopefully we can get more interest in a future venture.

Clearly it was their fault for scrapping all the decent comps and leaving us with hardly anything worth playing.

Good luck trying to figure out something for July. I'm totally clueless.

Hadnt actually seen this, might get a little involved next month.

To be fair, it was Boss who scrapped them despite them nearly always being oversubscribed....
