Title: Live Cash
Post by: Rod on June 06, 2010, 11:10:47 AM
Just want to check my line on a hand I played live recently.

Game is a £1/£1 at Aspers in Swansea. Table is 8 handed and has been playing pretty loose and passive. Raises are pretty rare but when one does happen it is not usual to get two or three callers. I have not been sat at the table long but believe one of the players at the table is what I would consider a good player - this is mainly based on a hand where he flopped a set and bet pretty hard into two of the loose players and overshoved on the river when the flush hit and filled him up (he got called by top pair) and another hand where he made top pair and controlled the pot fairly well in a multi way pot. Not sure about the rest but most are calling to much.

To the hand. I have £100 in front of me and have not played many hands at all, the player mentioned above easily covers me. The rest of the table has between about £70 and £150 except one short stack who is on about £30. Anyway the guy I said I thought was pretty good raises it to £5 from UTG. 2 callers(including the shortstack) to me in the cut off. I look at KK. The pot now has £17 in it, the button is getting ready to fold his cards I think.

What is my play here? I am obviously raising but what is the right amount?

Check exactly how much shorty has left.

Raise exactly half that amount.

Hope the other 2 call then he ships.

Reship.

Seemples.

Whatever you do don't raise slightly more than half of shorty's stack or you'll end up having to flat and get stuck in a 4 way pot where you're getting the lot in no matter what and only getting called by better.

That would have been what I would have done if I was any good at this game *lol*. As it is I'm a fish so I shoved and they all folded. Thought there must be a way of getting more value than that, oh well. Live and learn and all that.

Cheers For that though Mr Pie :-)
