Title: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: pleno1 on June 10, 2010, 02:13:33 AM About 6 of us in Newcastle want to play a 48-72 (possibly 79+) to break the world record that laak has just set as it is ridic how easy it is and having a bunch of us doing it would be pretty cool.
What do people suggest we play? Would pot limit pre and no limit post be a good option? Capped? etc etc Basically people dont wanna lose like 20+ buyins as the game will end up breaking and we will be the only ones in the game. Also will def be able to get red bull to sponsor us/give us as many free crates as we want, would any casino allow this? Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: Cf on June 10, 2010, 02:37:27 AM pretty epic.
perhaps allow money to be taken off the table at certain points if the game is getting too deep. eg if the avg gets 400bb+ or whatever then agree to drop everyone back down to 200bb. Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: pleno1 on June 10, 2010, 02:39:33 AM itll be in a month or so to get everything set up. will casinos allow nandos/redbull to be delivered?

Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: pleno1 on June 10, 2010, 02:52:23 AM i know aspers allow nandos to be delivered for their high rollers, so i cant see it being too much of a problem, worst comes to worst they will put free food on for us. but nandos 1 time please :)
Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: pleno1 on June 10, 2010, 03:08:19 AM 120 hours is the line we going for. 5 minutes break every hour and you're allowed to save your 5 minutes up. so after every day you'd have around 100 minutes break if you clocked it up.
Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: Sack it off on June 10, 2010, 03:11:57 AM Why would they put free food on for you when they know you are trapped there?
Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: pleno1 on June 10, 2010, 04:10:58 AM we'd most likely have the choice of all 3 casinos. the good press they would make would far outway the £££ they would spend feeding us, most likely going to be some charity fundraising happening and with the Guinness book of records etc going to be there not only would it be amazing press it would also bring lots of people to casino.
also they would make a shit load off us in rake. Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: DaveShoelace on June 10, 2010, 07:23:12 AM Throw a charity element in otherwise you wont get as much attention.
I would try and piggy back the attempt on the back of a festival to help promote it/get potential sponsorship/gaurantee a crowd. The Newcastle summer series is this month, prob too early. Also limit omaha hi/lo, blinds £0.02/£0.04 should ensure nobody goes broke Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: kinboshi on June 10, 2010, 10:21:53 AM I didn't think Laak broke the record? Didn't he stop before he reached the existing record?
Edit: My bad - he hammered the old record :D Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: Girgy85 on June 10, 2010, 10:42:06 AM we'd most likely have the choice of all 3 casinos. the good press they would make would far outway the £££ they would spend feeding us, most likely going to be some charity fundraising happening and with the Guinness book of records etc going to be there not only would it be amazing press it would also bring lots of people to casino. also they would make a shit load off us in rake. Thought ud ask for rake free dealer dealt tables too? Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: GreekStein on June 10, 2010, 11:57:41 AM No way are are group of people going to break Laak's 115 hour record.
That's over 4 days straight! The guy is just sick but don't forget he grinds the Bellagio 10/20 like a madman anyway so his body is a lot more used to being up a hell of a lot longer than I imagine most of the guys who are planning this are. Also, casinos are unlikely to give too much of a shit imo. Let's get some PR for gamblers who do nothing but gamble for days and days on end. Weeeee. lol. I think if you were to try and do it, like BarryDaveShoelacePokernewsEditorCarter says, you'd need to do it with a charity element to attract positive PR which is obv a draw for the casino facilitating you. Prob good if you do it around one of their poker festivals too. Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: leethefish on June 10, 2010, 12:16:26 PM lol how ridic easy it is ???lol

Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: RichEO on June 11, 2010, 02:48:20 AM I saw Laak when he was at 80 hours and had broken the record. He looked he was having a tough time of it!
I have played just under 40 hours a couple of times and it isn't easy. I think instead of worrying about what game and trying to invent a new one etc you should be focussing on how impossible it is to beat 115 hours! Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: Sack it off on June 11, 2010, 03:09:51 AM I saw Laak when he was at 80 hours and had broken the record. I think instead of worrying about what game and trying to invent a new one etc you should be focussing on how impossible it is to beat 115 hours! My god the man speaks sense!! Can't people die if they stay up for even just 4 days? This People die sleeping, and crossing the street and doing extreme activitys too! Yes true, but everytime you partake in these activities you increase the chance of dying. Obviously this correlates with the chances of dying with the specific activity. Crossing the road has less chance of dying per event than bungee jumping for instance, so you can't really put them into all one category and put across a point in such a way. So yes, people do die doing most activities but the chances of you dying doing each activity aren't the same, if you perform a high risk activity then you are going to be increasing the chance of a fatality in relation to a lower risk activity. I just don't think you could compare such a serious matter of staying awake where underlying heart conditions and other general health risks can come in to play as much as "crossing the street" It's simply not a fair comparison to say that "people die crossing the street" as if it has an equal chance of happening as staying awake for 4 days. The circumstances and variables differ far too dramatically to be able to compare the two. Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: thetank on June 11, 2010, 03:15:31 AM If you're planning on staying awake for 115 hours make sure you don't read any of Sackitoff's street crossing posts.

I'd like to see some facts to back up crossing the street has less chance of dying than bungee jumping!! Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: outragous76 on June 11, 2010, 02:05:41 PM id like to see 9 people playing poker for 5 days straight whilst off their tits on coke

I'd like to see some facts to back up crossing the street has less chance of dying than bungee jumping!! Which would you prefer to do? Baring in my if you elect to do with bungee jumping I will pay for you to bungee of the transporter bridge in Middlesbrough. All professional etc. If you are willing to cross the street you will be willing to do this. Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: pleno1 on June 11, 2010, 08:14:35 PM one time do the bungee girgy. epic.
Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: Girgy85 on June 11, 2010, 11:59:11 PM Odds on dying crossing the road are far greater than the odds of dying whilst doing a bunjee jump!!
Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: thetank on June 12, 2010, 12:28:26 AM Today I crossed 16 roads and died 0 times
Today I completed 0 bungee jumps and died 0 times. Just getting us started with some data so we can begin to work out a figure for deaths per 1,000,000 undertakings of each activity which would be a fair way to guage which one is safer. Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: Sack it off on June 12, 2010, 12:56:15 AM Odds on dying crossing the road are far greater than the odds of dying whilst doing a bunjee jump!! So when your own safety is concerned, you'd prefer to bungee jump than cross the road? Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: byronkincaid on June 12, 2010, 12:57:14 AM i think you should do a proper scientific study on this tank. get a grant off the government, 2 mill would do it, i'll cross the road a million times and see how many times I die. you can count to make sure i'm not cheating (don't worry if you want a day off I'll cover for you and promise to do the crossings) and write up the results. 1000 road crossings a day and
mmm just realised that we need girgy to do a million bungee jumps. best make it 3 mill mate. Title: Re: Ideas for a lonnnnnngggg cash game Post by: thetank on June 12, 2010, 01:01:57 AM I was gonna make it a cool 7 mill and also investigate the deaths per million of getting a Swedish massage.
