About 6 of us in Newcastle want to play a 48-72 (possibly 79+) to break the world record that laak has just set as it is ridic how easy it is and having a bunch of us doing it would be pretty cool.

What do people suggest we play? Would pot limit pre and no limit post be a good option? Capped? etc etc Basically people dont wanna lose like 20+ buyins as the game will end up breaking and we will be the only ones in the game.

Also will def be able to get red bull to sponsor us/give us as many free crates as we want, would any casino allow this?

perhaps allow money to be taken off the table at certain points if the game is getting too deep. eg if the avg gets 400bb+ or whatever then agree to drop everyone back down to 200bb.

itll be in a month or so to get everything set up. will casinos allow nandos/redbull to be delivered?

i know aspers allow nandos to be delivered for their high rollers, so i cant see it being too much of a problem, worst comes to worst they will put free food on for us. but nandos 1 time please :)

120 hours is the line we going for. 5 minutes break every hour and you're allowed to save your 5 minutes up. so after every day you'd have around 100 minutes break if you clocked it up.

Why would they put free food on for you when they know you are trapped there?

we'd most likely have the choice of all 3 casinos. the good press they would make would far outway the £££ they would spend feeding us, most likely going to be some charity fundraising happening and with the Guinness book of records etc going to be there not only would it be amazing press it would also bring lots of people to casino.

also they would make a shit load off us in rake.

Throw a charity element in otherwise you wont get as much attention.

I would try and piggy back the attempt on the back of a festival to help promote it/get potential sponsorship/gaurantee a crowd. The Newcastle summer series is this month, prob too early.

Also limit omaha hi/lo, blinds £0.02/£0.04 should ensure nobody goes broke

No way are are group of people going to break Laak's 115 hour record.

That's over 4 days straight! The guy is just sick but don't forget he grinds the Bellagio 10/20 like a madman anyway so his body is a lot more used to being up a hell of a lot longer than I imagine most of the guys who are planning this are.

Also, casinos are unlikely to give too much of a shit imo. Let's get some PR for gamblers who do nothing but gamble for days and days on end. Weeeee. lol.

I think if you were to try and do it, like BarryDaveShoelacePokernewsEditorCarter says, you'd need to do it with a charity element to attract positive PR which is obv a draw for the casino facilitating you. Prob good if you do it around one of their poker festivals too.

I saw Laak when he was at 80 hours and had broken the record. He looked he was having a tough time of it!

I have played just under 40 hours a couple of times and it isn't easy. I think instead of worrying about what game and trying to invent a new one etc you should be focussing on how impossible it is to beat 115 hours!

Yes true, but everytime you partake in these activities you increase the chance of dying. Obviously this correlates with the chances of dying with the specific activity.
Crossing the road has less chance of dying per event than bungee jumping for instance, so you can't really put them into all one category and put across a point in such a way.

So yes, people do die doing most activities but the chances of you dying doing each activity aren't the same, if you perform a high risk activity then you are going to be increasing the chance of a fatality in relation to a lower risk activity.

I just don't think you could compare such a serious matter of staying awake where underlying heart conditions and other general health risks can come in to play as much as "crossing the street"

It's simply not a fair comparison to say that "people die crossing the street" as if it has an equal chance of happening as staying awake for 4 days. The circumstances and variables differ far too dramatically to be able to compare the two.

If you're planning on staying awake for 115 hours make sure you don't read any of Sackitoff's street crossing posts.

I'd like to see some facts to back up crossing the street has less chance of dying than bungee jumping!!

Odds on dying crossing the road are far greater than the odds of dying whilst doing a bunjee jump!!

Just getting us started with some data so we can begin to work out a figure for deaths per 1,000,000 undertakings of each activity which would be a fair way to guage which one is safer.

i think you should do a proper scientific study on this tank. get a grant off the government, 2 mill would do it, i'll cross the road a million times and see how many times I die. you can count to make sure i'm not cheating (don't worry if you want a day off I'll cover for you and promise to do the crossings) and write up the results. 1000 road crossings a day and we'll be millionaires the world will have this important info in less than 3 years.
