Title: Wimbledon
Post by: Matt50 on June 20, 2010, 01:50:33 PM
Wimbledon starts tomorrow.

One question - is Djokovic way overpriced at 50's on Betfair??

Wonder if Blatch will be giving any opinions on this one?

I'm on. Small value bets this year rather than a chunk on one particular player. Its the most wide open Wimbledon for 6 years and the betting reflects this.

This time last year i had £1k on Federer to win it @ EVS and hes 2.4 this time round. But hes not the same player. Hes recently lost to Berdych, Gulbis and Hewitt and also to Soderling in a Grand Slam. Its almost a lay.

I like Berdych for this. Hes in Federers quarter, clashing with him in the Quarter Finals if they both make it and his serve has been much improved recently and that is obviously crucial in regards to Grass court tennis. At 65s im certainly going to have a go.

Hewitt won Halle for me last week @ 14s and is 48.0 on Betfair to win Wimbledon, 33s with most bookies but Sporting Bet are offering 66s? wtf. He is in the easiest Quarter and has recently said that the reason hes still playing tennis is that he thinks he can get back to the top of the game. He is going about this the right way beating Federer in the Halle final on grass last week. I don't "think" he will win Wimbledon but 66s is definitely value.

15ew Hewitt @ 66s (Sporting)
30w Berdych @ 65.0 (Bfair)
5w Youzhny @ 700s (Bfair)
10w 4th Quarter Winner - Youzhny 33s (Stan)
10w 1st Quarter Winner - Melzer 50s (365)
10w Berdych/Nadal - Name The Finalists @ 80s (365)
5w Berdych/Murray Name The Finalists @ 100s (Sky)

Invested = £100

I haven't looked at this at all but they are very generous odds, best have a look. cracking opportunity to trade out with a decent profit with those odds

Fed still cant be over looked in the winners market, even tho he isnt the same player as he was last year. 76-2 record on grass in the last 4-5 years shouldn't be over looked

Federers just lost the 1st set of his first round match to Alejandro Falla.

Fed was 1.01 to win the match and 1.2 to win 3-0.

Just had a look and saw that.  The odds on a Falla win look pretty good though (3.6), assuming the injury isn't too bad...?

In game betting is crazy with tennis, you can't have a second to decide whether to go in or not and then your tilted because you don't want to take a worse price than you could've had a second ago,or at least that's how I think about it anyway.

Haha - I'm the same.  I guess when you're playing around at it like we are, we need the matches to swing one way and then the other in order for it to work.

I win slightly more if Falla wins, but glad I laid it off when Federer was over 3.2.

I had the bet amount wrote in and if I probably had 5secs longer I would've took the 3.8 but meh no biggie I'll just knock it in on Eng on Weds instead knowing me.Still debating that, the price is terrible really at 1.44.

To be fair i'll just be happy if he gets back on the court!

I'm a ton+ deep on Isner at 1.83 (agreed Keith, I regret it now, get him in a rally and he is truly awful)

30w Berdych @ 65.0 (Bfair)
10w Berdych/Nadal - Name The Finalists @ 80s (365)
5w Berdych/Murray Name The Finalists @ 100s (Sky)

To trade or not to trade, the perennial question.

As much as I like Federer, never hurts to see a new face winning Wimbledon.

Fed/Nadal is the only final that attracts viewers IMO...it's the main event and the one game everyone looks out for.

In the same way that noone wants to see a Ghana/Uruguay final or something like that in the footie

Yeah but a Ghana vs Brazil or Argentina type final would be good for football.

The only chance of me watching the WC final is if there is a serious underdog in it like you have mentioned. I think it would be great for getting the non regular watchers of the game like me to watch.......I'd obv be supporting Ghana too.

Meh I think I'd be more pumped for like Brazil vs Argentina because of the history and how close I can see it being etc. However, having an underdog in it is great too.

OHNO @ The Fed Express derailing.

Not good news for tennis...though Soderling could now win this.

How so?

Best final I've ever seen was Liverpool v West ham so I supposed Best v Underdog can make great finals but two teams at the top of there game can also make a great final.Basically I don't care who's in the final and just hope it's a good one.

It's close for me,I enjoyed both but it was just I expected that to be such a boring Cup final,I don't no why but I was jumping round the bar when Gerrard scored that screamer with cramp,it just epitomised everthing good about football or I maybe a secret Liverpool fan because I was dead nervous during extra time of Istanbul as I reallly wanted your lot to win, both epic finals.

What time is Murray match looking to start?

Travelling up to Aberdeen from Larbert. Very tempted to just stop in Dunblane and watch it in the pub there.

They'd better be! Tappit Hen serves the best ale and is just beside the Cathedral so easy to find.

Tappit Hen it is. Going to wait till he's set point down before shouting 'Come on Timmy' as loud as I can.

...unless there are bigger boys in the pub.

FYP.

Kidding, Nadal is just too good. Murray played well but not enough.

Dunblane are so fekkin results orientated it tilts me.

They gave up on their boy in that third set. No recognition that he did the job in the second, (apart from the doing the job part)

it got so bad Reporting Scotland wanted to talk to me at half six. i told them I wasn't from Dunblane and was unlikely to give a good interview even if I was sober never mind with a half dozen pints of ale (chz btw soberlad)
still got asked twicE coz NO ONE ELSE IN THE PUB GAVE A FUPP, EVEN AFTER MURRAY INSTABROKE; inda third

GG mURRAY
SHAME dUNBlANE

That is a shame - they can't have been REAL Dunblaners.  :)

I thought he played really well, just not as good as Nadal who was brilliant. Glad you enjoyed the ale.

Current status = Scottish

Title: Re: Wimbledon
Post by: thetank on July 03, 2010, 07:27:52 AM
Thing is, I'm happy that he got to the semis, I'm happy at the performance he gave. I'm proud that he can stand up with the best in the world when they're playing their best and still compete, and compete strongly. A points either way on a couple of key service games and it would be a different result.

So if he is Scottish today, we're happy to have him.

Murray will win a slam,of that I have no doubt. He had two really good chances to win the second set but once he was two behind he was never going to comeback.

Laid 2-0 and backed Zvon +5.5 games, they met 6 times before and of the 5 Serena won only 2 were straight sets and I thought Serena made some simple unforced errors in her semi to gift games
