Title: Getting in to see Wimbledon Post by: marcro on June 22, 2010, 07:24:37 PM From seeing it on the TV it looks pretty crowded. I understand that they have 6,000 Grounds Admission tickets which you get by queueing. Has anyone done this?
If I get there at 2:00 PM any idea on the chances of my getting a Grounds Admission tickets and if so, how long should I expect to queue for? Thanks. Title: Re: Getting in to see Wimbledon Post by: Graham C on June 22, 2010, 07:27:08 PM I thought people queued up from basically dawn to get in, wouldn't have thought you could turn up early afternoon and sneek a seat.

Yeah but I am not sure if this is just for tickets to Centre and No. 1 courts or if this is needed for ground admission too. Also I think there is a system where as people leave they drop their tickets in at the entreance .......and you can go in late (like after 5pm)....but can't see anything about it on the website Title: Re: Getting in to see Wimbledon Post by: Delboy on June 22, 2010, 08:49:56 PM http://aeltc2010.wimbledon.org/en_GB/about/tickets/queue.html Also I think there is a system where as people leave they drop their tickets in at the entreance .......and you can go in late (like after 5pm)....but can't see anything about it on the website Yep, turn up about 5pm you can usually get in quite quickly for grounds addmission. allways worth a visit on a sunny day in the second week, as a lot of the star players are on the outside courts in doubles/mixed matches Title: Re: Getting in to see Wimbledon Post by: Rotty on June 24, 2010, 12:48:57 PM For future years just apply through the ballot
you apply just before Christmas and I have got Centre Court tickets 3 out 4 times Title: Re: Getting in to see Wimbledon Post by: Snatiramas on June 24, 2010, 12:53:58 PM For future years just apply through the ballot you apply just before Christmas and I have got Centre Court tickets 3 out 4 times it is true. Going to the ladies final this year. More grunting than at a convention of front row forwards Title: Re: Getting in to see Wimbledon Post by: DMorgan on June 25, 2010, 12:15:19 AM I went a couple of years ago and getting a general admission ticket was alright, only queued for 20 minutes or so. Centre court tickets you had to queue for hours for at the start of the day but they have drop boxes there so if you leave centre or court 1 before the end of the day they re-sell the tickets cheap. We didn't get to centre until about 4 but we did see Sharapova and Nadal so it was definitely worth the hour-ish queue

Queued up for 15 minutes and saw Roddick, Del Potro and Wozniak. Title: Re: Getting in to see Wimbledon Post by: The-Crow on June 25, 2010, 01:11:38 PM Just been watching The Club Presenter Dan Lobb at Wimbledon playing around with Anna K and martina H
Glad to see Dan is not struggling after leaving Poker Title: Re: Getting in to see Wimbledon Post by: Waz1892 on June 26, 2010, 10:26:32 AM Years ago I used to need front row centre court tickets..so to guarantee this I had to queue from around 3pm on the Monday to get until the Tuesday....fun times!..Totally worth the wait too..those were the days.
