Title: The Big Game
Post by: MC on July 08, 2010, 01:17:57 AM
Thought I'd start up a thread for this to perhaps post some of the more interesting hands as I dunno how many of you are likely to watch it. Anyone else caught it yet?

It's a good show, perhaps the fact it's less edited than High Stakes Poker makes it a bit less interesting, but it's similar stakes to HSP and the "Loose Cannon" is an interesting concept and Joe Stapleton on commentary is funny (+ Amanda Leatherman who hosts is a bit of a hottie)

I've been downloading it on PokerBay (http://www.thepokerbay.org/) but I imagine it's on PokerTube and I think stuff might even be on PokerStars.tv as well...

Pot from week 1, pretty sick for Hellmuth. Players accuse him of slow-rolling but I don't see anything wrong with what he does...

Pot from week 2. Loose Cannon was a solid player only playing T4s cos he had to gamble it up with not many hands left to turn a profit...

Yeah they are on pokertube as well.

I have really enjoyed the series so far and would say behind HSP this is the best poker tv show currently on tv. Joe Stapleton is hilarious and also seems to have a pretty good knowledge of the game.

Are you for real?!

You dont see anything wrong? You don't think that he has an easy decision after squeezing pre? You don't think the 'LOOSE CANNON' has a wider range than pawket tens on T99, really? Absolutely disgusting slowroll and just shows how clueless Hellmuth really is.

You can't slowroll someone if all their chips aren't in the middle (well I guess technically you can, but not if they have a decent amount back as is the case here)

The way I see it, he puts on some Hollywood to perhaps make sure the guy calls off his remaining chips.

Titanium - I watched it again to make sure I didn't miss anything...he said "I have 3 nines" after about 2 seconds, how is this a slowroll? Anything before that the loose cannon has a lot of chips back. You might not think you can raise half your stack and fold, but this guy was a complete donk and only on one bullet so to speak, and yes he says he's going to call, but this could just be speech play, no?..

I just hate the way he thinks, tilts me haaaaard. he didn't need to waste time or claim he 'thought he could be beat'.

I don't mean slowroll in terms of declaring, just everything else about the hand.

He was just making sure the chips went in as far as I can see. Easy to say 'Of course he was always calling after raising that amount with that back, he had KK', but Hellmuth didn't know that, from his perspective he was just hollywooding to make himself look weaker imo.

Pretty sick losing 3/4 there...

ya thanks that's it.

And sighmund it's not like afterwards he said, 'I was hollywooding wanted to win all the monies' he's complains that he could be behind to TT, it's just so dumb and so ridiculous its hard to fathom that he has lots of bracelets.

Nothing wrong with it. Just a bit of Hollywood.

The range of a decent player in LooseCannon's spot reraising in that fashion is actually quite limited, given his behaviour, looking like he believes he's ahead for sure (and he did believe this). Hellmuth believes he does not have AA KK, LooseCannon had flat called preflop 4-way. He just doesn't realise how bad LooseCannon is, once Hellmuth leads out fairly strong his little brain has already ruled out trips as a possibility. Look at the way he jumps up when all the money is in, convinced he's ahead. Hellmuth probably picked up on all this when making his decision, the only thing he did wrong was giving the guy too much credit. It's not a slowroll.
Obv he's not folding, but I don't think there's much wrong with considering the possibilities.

->To Tony G 'Show some class'. That made me lol.

Tony G is very funny in the 1st week with his needling of Hellmuth.

Something along the lines of "We are all winners in life here, including you Phil. Just cash games are not your forte"

Interesting hand from week 4...

This loose cannon is a master of not giving off live tells!

Viffer is brilliant.

I normally root for the loose cannons in this, but that guy was a douche and I enjoyed that hand.

I remember that hand. Don't see how the LC doesn't call there. He only gets to keep any profit so needs to double up. With only 20 hands left he's unlikely to get that chance. And yeah, I also wanted him to lose lol

Anyone watch last week's game? LC in that was so so so bad.

Wanted him to lose as well! Did seem like a decent spot to call against Viffer who could easily be bluffing. Haven't watched much of week 5 yet, dude playing well so far though so perhaps you're on to week 6.

Yeah, it's week 6. Very first hand the LC open limps with AJs if I remember right...
