Title: New Fulham manager
Post by: Herbie H on July 10, 2010, 08:59:11 AM
Anyone prepared to price up and take a bet on the new Fulham boss?

Not for much only $40.

Nope Dave Jones.

Jol is odds on in places so looks likely to be him but Dave Jones is 2/1 at Betfred but 12/1 at Skybet. Did you know anything we didn't Herbie or just fancy him due to difficult circumstances at Cardiff?

I was told Jones was walking from Cardiff anyway(he still will they reckon), and Fulham had talks with him.

Looks like Jol has it at the moment, but I ain't dumping my 14/1 slip just yet

He would be mad to leave Ajax anyway, Fulham are running out of options. D Jones may be available?!?! Pls

Reports up here are that Ajax have refused to allow Jol to make some signings he wants so he's off to Fulham.

Jol wants to sign but Ajax refusing to negotiate compensation. Anything over evens looks good for Jol now doesn't it? He'll never stay at Ajax so surely just a matter of time?

Word in holland is that Jol can sign players once Suarez and VD Wiel leave, he's been given permission to sign some players ona  free though and should sign a new striker in time for the new European game.

It's all a big mess but the report on the sportinglife website is simply ridic saying that Ajax is blocking the move and then not actually backing it up but just stating that Jol has indeed said he's staying at Ajax (unless the board decide not to let him sign anymore players)

I wouldn't back him at evens to become the next Fulham manager

He would be mad to leave Ajax anyway.

a club 21mill euros in debt from a tiny country that will never do anything.

Yeah, but the only way is down for Fulham in my opinion after last season. How much do Fulham owe Al Fayed if he decided to walk away?

Fair point. Jol will surely leave Ajax soon enough unless he gets dosh to spend, but it will be for a bigger club than Fulham IMO

Seems to be differing reports coming from Holland and the UK so on Boldie's advice i've traded out of my Jol bet. Backed him at ~2.4 and laid it of at 1.45.
My book looks something like this -
Jol +£1
Jones +£60
Hoddle  +The World
All others +£0

Nice one Boldie. Although he's spoken to SSN saying he wanted to go but he didn't want to get in to a legal battle with Ajax. Was he just being polite and making it look like he didn't use Fulham?
Why didn't Ajax let him to go? If they lost 20 odd mil then wouldn't a couple of mil for a manager have helped out and then got somebody in on the cheap?

He was just being polite IMO. He was never leaving Ajax for Fulham as he thinks he can get a bigger club in the EPL, unless the board stood firm and didn't allow any new players in.
He wants to go ahead and do something with Ajax, he has a decent side *spits* and could win something (assuming PSV stay shit :( )
He had to get the board to sign some new players..this was the best way of doing it.

I don't know why Ajax didn't let him go...maybe because he's a good manager and there is nothing of his caliber available on the cheap. Ajax need trophies/A championship...it's pathetic how poor they have been recently and they have to get something on the board, this is their only chance really.
