Title: The 139th Open Championship at St. Andrew's. Post by: Karabiner on July 12, 2010, 01:53:02 PM I'm really looking forward to this rather like a gourmet who's been invited to a Michelin starred restaurant.
So far I have been matched on Thongchai Jaidee at what I feel to be a humungous 430 on BF. The guy's been playing really well lately and I honestly could see him going very close given a little luck in running such as the draw which often plays a big part in these links events. I've also taken the 120 on K.J.Choi as I suspect it won't get any bigger. I really like both his game and his temperament and frequently pick him in the majors as I'm sure he deserves to win at least one. I thought he was going to win The Masters this year until Mickelson went on that incredible run. I've added Camillo Villegas to my team this week @ 110, as he is a low ball-hitter and should be well suited to links golf with windy conditions and slower greens. The fourth member of my original picks to be matched is the bjorn-again ;shame; Thomas Bjorn. He has rediscovered the winning habit this year with his remodelled swing and came very close with the old flawed one, so 230 on BF looks like decent value to me. I couldn't resist trawling the 800/1+ "no-hopers" at the bottom of the BF win market barrel and sticking a rather hopeful cockle on the man I call "Nacho", Ignacio Garrido @ 860. He becomes my wild-card and completes my complement for this year's Open. Title: Re: The 139th Open Championship at St. Andrew's. Post by: Josedinho on July 12, 2010, 04:23:41 PM I know you wait until you get matched but will you post your other picks before it starts. I'd like to have small bet on 3 or 4 players but nobody immediately jumps out at me so looking for some ideas.

Post by: ACE2M on July 14, 2010, 12:35:34 PM Soren Kjeldsen is my big price pick. He putts like god from distance and plays well in poor weather, 2 things at an absolute premium this week probably. He gets into contention fairly regularly. Big detractor is his lack of distance off the tee.
360 on BF was big price i thought, definitly looking to trade out if he gets involved at any point as he doesn't like to actually win. Happy i backed rose yesterday before Chapman tipped him this morning. Donald has good form at st andrews and is in form so had a bit outright and him in 72 mole match bet v poulter. Had a go of big hitting karllson, if he is hitting it straight this week he could kill the course. Title: Re: The 139th Open Championship at St. Andrew's. Post by: Karabiner on July 15, 2010, 06:37:26 PM My fav bet of every year is in the Open but has been spoilt a little this time by one of the better golf tipping sites putting it up too. In the last 13 Open championships that both Els and Mickleson have played in Els has beaten Mickleson every time. I got a little 10/11 with an Aussie firm and a little 10/11 with a US frim but the best I can see now is 1.85 or 4/5 with Extrabet. Play suspended at the moment for strong winds. When they resume it's obv still gonna be blowing hard and scores are gonna go nuts. There's no way in a million years Oosty will drift by the end of the day. Title: Re: The 139th Open Championship at St. Andrew's. Ricky was doing well early in the day today, upto -9, going into the back 9 then he fked it up. sigh nvvvm, lets gogogogo 2mo stable. Casey or Westwood wil probs win it (if Oosty loses the lead).Theyve been really consistent so far. Casey just messing up one hole which has cost him massively, (triple bogey i think it was) he was makin a run at the leader up til then. BH, Jones and Rooks set off a bit ago from here. I need to get bigalx on the job to get me paid in full. Was a good trip all in all. Saturday was shit. It was raining, all my players were sinking down the leaderboard and we were all knackered after driving up early (bad idea) Today was amazing, started on the grandstand behind the 1st betting props and seeing everyone on their way then finished the day on the grandstand at the 18th (obv) watching everyone come in and having mad prop bets in the sun. Was also nice to see Kaymer go bogey, bogey, bogey to get my players paiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid. Not sure we will do it again next year, its a long drive and TV coverage is easier to track, but i enjoyed seeing Mickelson, Garcia, Mcilroy etc. in the flesh and being the only one in the stand not applauding Woods (i hate the guy). |
