this is just a quick question to all the people out there, and might answer a question three people in the world are asking LOL

I'm a decent live player, four final tables and half of them are wins inside my first eleven months, on average outlast at least half the fields and have 17 top 50's under my belt...but online i get completely eaten alive, its embarrassing how much money goes online compared to the profits live.

my question is if this is the problem people have, how can they make it to the major live events, EPT's, WSOPE's and the like...i cant afford to buy in direct, it'd be stupid and foolish at the same time. but to qualify online usually ends up in a string of wasted cash and a very large headache.

Ive heard some people mention stakehorses, but i also happen to know from high people that its very hard to ever find someone willing to back you that's not family...i did once look into the black belt site, but then quickly realised that the contracts you sign effectively sign away your soul, not to mention the sickening hours ONLINE you have to put in makes it not profitable for me

another thing i keep hearing is live satellites, only downside with those is that the price of said satellites are hard in their own right, either that or the dreaded "rebuy" comes into it, and that's not poker its just a crapshoot.


i understand Ive probably removed all my options with saying this. but does anyone have a clue what i could do to get into the bigger events, my dream like most others is to become sponsored, but these days you need a massive win to make that happen, and without qualifying or having millions to spend on buyins and travel, its impossible.

Dave admitted to a friend in a Walsall £330 that he doubted he could beat online $2/4 without the rakeback+hourly but at least he's putting away the volume online!  A bit less sure about Robertos -16bb/100 winrate over 44k hands of mostly 2/4-5/10.  Still, hardly surprising when Daves playing a somewhat unconventional 23/4 style and Roberto sporting the 40/30...

Unless you put a ton of volume away and keep expenses way down, I expect making a living off strictly live poker is pretty damn tough to do.  And even if you do put the volume away thats only ~300 tournaments a year and maybe 80k hands of cash a year...

Don't take this the wrong way but you're probably not that good at poker, yet. Playing live the standard is not as good as it is online. To play to any standard online you need to learn the poker fundamentals. It may well be that your reads when playing live are the strong points of your game.
Forget about sponsorship, as others have alluded it's actually very difficult to get sponsorship nowadays.
If satellites are too pricey, and you don't like the rebuy element then forget about 'em. Just play more of your regular tournies that you are successful in and build your roll that way

a bit like you I'm not a fan of online tournaments , and prefer to play live.

However realistically the only way I  get into the big events is to satellite in online.
If you think your live play is good enough , you have to back yourself to qualify online.
 Decide what you want to enter, look up all sats to it (and maybe any live sats) and decided what is the highest satellite level you can comfortably afford to enter.
 Read up about satellite play/ watch any training videos etc.
You will also find some good value as you go......last night I was in a sat for a $7000 seat and there was about $4000 in the pot.
