The other night I was playing in a SNG on one of the new sites, and
just for kicks I typed the following in the chat window:

"execute command <show_players_hole_cards.scr> -private -me -p107"

Then I typed:

"Oops, forgot the /"

these two guys in the SNG freaked out and would fold everytime I called
or raised. They even followed me to another SNG and were warning the
other players that I could see their hole cards. 3 people at that table
folded to me everytime I raised or called as well.

It was freakin hillarious. I was supposed to be funny, but these guys
went totally ballistic and freaked out in a major way. They even
reported me to support for using cheat commands to see their hole
cards.

lads dont mean this in a bad way, but if your making people fold because your typing in these hoax commands, surely it is cheating and against what poker is about

if it happened to you, and you didnt know it was a wind up you would be pretty worried, and it could put you off internet poker for good.

No one can sit at a table, type a command and see or set the cards up smithy.

For future reference ;) ;) ;)

There is a program, that allows you to see players mucked hands however, after they have mocked at the showdown!

No idea how to get the program, but i was informed there was one kicking about.

I know this isnt cheating as the hand is infact over, when you see the mucked hand, however it does offer valuable hand advice, as to what 2 cards they went to a show down with.

Doesn't that program just get the details from the hand history?

You could always look yourself, this program just automates it - much like poker tracker does for stats...

I laughed when I read the post but agree with smithy.

Doing this will turn new players, who don't understand your joke, away from internet poker. I think it's a little out of order.

I agree it can be alittle out of order, and is not to be used on a daily basis..BUT there are times when you can use it for fun, like last night nemisis was on a table and there was 2/3 guys all working together. He posted about it and i went to see it for myself. It was well out of order. So there are times when i see it as no harm at all, and a little bit of fear will not do them any harm....

Lighten up guys,

If someones gullible, stupid to believe that, then I doubt they will do very well playing poker, so turning them away is maybe doing a good thing for them  :D

We want new players and we shouldn't do anything to discourage them from taking up the game.
If someone knows nothing about the online poker world then they could be forgiven for thinking that the player was genuinely trying to cheat, not overly gullible for a layman to fall for it.
I'm talking about all the players at the table, not just the one involved in the hand.

Relax, its only a commercial.
If you want to look deep into everything, im sure you would find something in every little joke or prank.
Dont tell me you have not found humour in something that you should nt really.

I can't...

I laughed when I read the post

All I'm saying is it's counter productive to the poker economy (on my high 'ho silver' horse now). I felt the need to point that out, lest all the readers on the forum be encouraged to go forth and do similar things without hearing a contrary opinion. Smithy spoke out and I felt the need to back him up lest he come over as a lone killjoy for making a fair point.

Don't confuse inexperience with stupidity

Why do we want new players, it not like poker is going downhill. I think you mean you want more fish.

Why do we want new players, it not like poker is going downhill.

That's like saying there's no problem littering the streets if they're always clean. Just because there's been a poker boom for the last few years doesn't mean it will continue that way forever.

Waste not, want not.

Difference is littering is illegal, what there doing is just fun.

Although the anaology is not perfect on every level I hope you understand the point I was trying to make, Whether you agree/disagree is fo you to decide, but don't dismiss an argument over a technicality.

I can't believe anyone is stupid enough to fall for this, if they are then its fair game.
