Title: Playing festival poker in London in September? Post by: TightEnd on August 30, 2010, 12:07:34 PM Combined buy ins for the lot total £107,000! WPT,WSOPE,EPT,WPO..
"World Poker Tour makes its first ever stop in the UK today, rolling into the Palm Beach Casino, London. Day 1A of the £5,000 + £300 buy in WPT London Poker Classic main event gets underway this afternoon and runs until September 4. It will be filmed for broadcast at a later date and will see a host of the world’s biggest poker stars take part including November Niner’s Matt Jarvis and Filippo Candio, Phil Ivey, Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott, James Akenhead, Alexander Kravchenko, Joe Beevers, Nicholas Levi, Erik Seidel, Dragan Galic, and Tony G. The festival also features a £15,000 buy in high rollers event and Simon Tomsett of Genting Casinos said, “The tournament prize pool of the London Poker Festival events alone is expected to easily exceed £12 million from a calendar of over 100 events. London is the poker capital of the world in September and the place to be if you are a poker player wherever you are from.” Thoughts on the sustainability of the top end of the live market? Is the Supply of events about to exceed the demand of players to play in these? Title: Re: Playing festival poker in London in September? Post by: Karabiner on August 30, 2010, 01:45:47 PM Odd that they schedule a WPT event in Europe to clash with an EPT event.
Title: Re: Playing festival poker in London in September? Post by: DaveShoelace on August 30, 2010, 02:04:27 PM I think it might Rich. I have a feeling the numbers will be pretty low for the WPT event, it just seems the odd one out. EPT has such a huge online qualifier presence and the WSOPE are bracelet events. I think I would prefer the WPT to be some other time in the year, so it would be a massive deal.

Post by: ripple11 on August 30, 2010, 07:13:33 PM I spoke to Simon on Saturday and he had about 100 booked in for the WPT....he was hoping for nearer 300 to start in the planning stage. Running one qualifer a week on Party with no guaranteed seats, that finished a couple of weeks ago!............was never going to get enough internet qualifers. However the daily shootout sats at the Palm Beach have proved popular....especially as you can buy in online for £230 instead of £330 !!. Title: Re: Playing festival poker in London in September? Post by: tikay on August 30, 2010, 07:44:40 PM When I left the Venue at about 2pm, 64 players had registered for Day 1a. (It started at noon). Photos later, blurry as usual. As a result, the directors are rethinking the strategy of seven level days and the day might be curtailed a little earlier than expected, the current thinking suggesting they may finish up with 3 or 4 tables left depending on how fast things are playing out. Tomorrow is expected to be a much busier day however…with late registrations allowed, enthusiastic EPT eliminees looking for action likely to fly over and play and a history of day 2s being busier. A total attendance of 250 is being tentatively suggested, which will create a juicy £1.25 million prize pool and mean the players are gunning for a cracking first prize. In fact, I managed to upset THREE people in composing just two blogs, only one of whom was Adebayo. ;) Title: Re: Playing festival poker in London in September?
