Title: Opinions?
Post by: Chompy on August 30, 2010, 10:04:07 PM
Day Two of the £750 at The Vic, 17 left of 134 (13 paid, £30k up top), average stack 95,000, me 55,000, blinds 1,500-3,000 (300).
Me Seat 1 in BB, Seat 2 came back as big stack, lost a lot in first hour, pretty tez, got around 70k left, Seat 10 on a roll, quite impressive but had some big hands and good spots, up to around 250,000.
Seat 2 limps utg. Seat 10 (SB) makes up, I have Ace hearts Jack diamonds and decide to go all trappy, so check.
Flop Q75 all hearts. Check check check.
Turn J clubs. Check check 12,000. SB now shoves. What do I do next?

Shove pre, with 12k already in there and likely the best hand I just get it in.

Nooooo, I didn't bet 12k, utg did. I was trapping to the max.

So your plan was trap two people, one of which you are out of position to....with AJ high. Shove preflop and I don't think its even remotely close.

As played pre I think your best option was to bet the flop, ~7.5k

Definitely fold the turn now though. The jack is obv not gunna be good and you don't have the correct odds to call to improve

No, take it as read.
I was setting out to get utg. Pretty sure he had KJ the way the hand panned out. It would have all come to fruition but for that pesky small blind dude. Would have called his 12k and then jammed the blank on the end to make out I'd missed the flushy thing.
But the SB changed everything.

Difficult one this but, as played, pretty much dont enter these larger buy in comps imo

Chumpy, you tried to play poker     ......    bloody heretic!

Why not heed the great advice from all these subtle players, jam pre (close eyes, and pray) and then see if it's your turn for your number to pop up into the Bingo Caller's hand!

Simples.

lol you can "try" and "play" as much poker as you want there is no way anything other than shoving pre is the most optimal line here

and if there was a way to play it more profitable checking pre....check, check/fold post flop probably wasn't it either.

Don't listen to these morans, you had a killer read. Was it the manner he wipped the drool from his chin that gave you such a strong read?
