Title: World Poker Open
Post by: snoopy1239 on September 06, 2010, 02:45:26 PM
Hey peeps. I'm currently at the Palm Beach covering the opening heat of the World Open. If you're intested, you can check it out here:

http://www.partypoker.com/blog/featured/world-open-vi-live-blog-updates.html (http://www.partypoker.com/blog/featured/world-open-vi-live-blog-updates.html)

Heat 1 has the potential to be a good one:

Seat 1: Sam Trickett
Seat 2: James Akenhead
Seat 3: Marty Smyth
Seat 4: Neil Channing
Seat 5: Peter Jetten
Seat 6: Dan Fleyshman
Seat 7: Ian Frazer
Seat 8: Lee Atherton

I think Lee Atherton is 'alfiesdad' on blonde, but not 100 percent.

Seat 2: Brandon Cantu
Seat 3: Andrew Robl
Seat 4: Dragan Galic
Seat 5: Felipe Ramos
Seat 6: Josh Gould
Seat 7: Roland De Wolfe
Seat 8: James Mitchell

These tv tournaments used to be good value.

By the looks of the lineups now, there is absolutely zero value these days.

Why would anyone want to be play these?

Added money ftw.

Couldn't agree more, these are some of the toughest TV heats I've ever seen. Tomorrow's line-up is frightening. I imagine the main reason is profile and brand awareness.

Profile? It will either be on Channel 5 or some obscure Sky channel that noone watches.

I would say ego was the motivating factor for the majority of players.

But it will be shown/reported on other poker media such as pokertube etc so profile will increase in the poker community which let's be honest is the max poker players can hope for.... the mainstream don't know much about poker players...100% certain if I asked my mates who have no interest in poker who ivey, antonious, hellmuth etc were they wouldn't have a clue

Well done Trickett. He was incredibly gutted over his bad run at Vilamoura, but hopefully this has made up for it.
