Title: Feet Eating Fish Post by: The-Crow on September 19, 2010, 11:57:27 PM The Latest exhibition in MIlton Keynes features a Health Spa that helps you remove dead unwanted skin from your feet by letting baby piranha fish chew away at your toes. For only £10 you can sit and watch the little fishes munch away at your bunions and corns.
Even little children where having ago, where was Health and Safety. I did ask if any other part of the body could be put in the water but they said only your feet sir. Interesting facts, also at the bottom of my road is the pub where some of David Blunketts top secret files were found and in the bottom of my road in the other direction they filmed some of the new Chris Morris film 'Four Lions' Title: Re: Feet Eating Fish Post by: Claw75 on September 20, 2010, 09:12:32 AM They've got one of these stores at the bottom of my road, might have a go actually as my feet are rank. Send Ding a PM - it's at her Clinic. Sigh - no we were looking at bringing it in but we made an executive decision today not to for many reasons including the question "Who looks after the fish during the holidays.... The school hamster died when it was my turn to take it home so I'm not keen to look after a few hundred fish tbh! These are springing up all over the place, the actual procedure is just a bit ticklish and the main area for concern is ensuring that the water is filtered well enough that you will not catch anything from the person that was in the water before you. The places I have seen have been exceptionally clean and the water filtering has been in excess of what is required from a health and safety point of view. I had my feet done at the MK one last week and they felt great afterwards. The fish do this naturally in the wild, with the locals dipping their feet in the river and having them cleaned by the fish but there the fish also feed on vegitation so they get all their vitamins and minerals. In spas they need to have mins and vits added to the water to ensure they stay healthy. I loved it and if I had any time I would open one up in MK shopping centre. There is one in Meadowhall Sheffield, Kent and another opening up in Cambridge on the 10th of October that I know are good ones. Went to the one in York, place absolutely stunk, totally disgusting smell. And the fish did nothing to improve my skin. Very disappointing. Title: Re: Feet Eating Fish Post by: The Camel on March 06, 2011, 07:26:19 PM Thought if you had manky skin on feet they wouldnt allow you to get treated anyway? Doctor Fish have been used to treat psoriasis for years, well before non sufferers discovered they were beneficial. From wikipedia: Doctor fish is the name given to two species of fish: Garra rufa and Cyprinion macrostomus. Other nicknames include nibble fish, kangal fish, and doctorfishen; in non-medical contexts, Garra rufa is called the reddish log sucker. They live and breed in the outdoor pools of some Turkish spas, where they feed on the skin of patients with psoriasis. The fish are like combfishes in that they only consume the affected and dead areas of the skin, leaving the healthy skin to grow, with the outdoor location of the treatment bringing beneficial effects. The spas are not meant as a curative treatment option, only as a temporary alleviation of symptoms, and patients usually revisit the spas every few months. Some patients have experienced complete cure of psoriasis after repeated treatments, but due to the unpredictable nature of the disease, which is strongly influenced by endogenous factors, this may simply be regression toward the mean.
