Title: The EPT London thread Post by: TightEnd on September 23, 2010, 03:21:47 PM he PokerStars.com European Poker Tour London Poker Festival is the first of Season 7’s full-on poker festivals and runs from September 29 - October 4, 2010 at the Hilton Metropole Hotel.
Last season’s record-breaking Main Event - which attracted 730 players was the biggest poker tournament ever held in the UK. Season 7’s London stop is set to be even more exciting with a wealth of events including the £5,250 Main Event, the £20,000 High Roller and £2,000 European 8-Game Championship. Last season American Aaron Gustavson, one of 149 players who won their seats on PokerStars, beat world champion and Team PokerStars PRO Peter Eastgate heads-up to win the Main Event for a first prize of £850,000. A host of other stars won side events at the EPT London Poker Festival including Team PokerStars Pros William Thorson and Jason Mercier, French star Fabrice Soulier, EPT4 Dortmund finalist Andreas Gulunay and Ilari Tahkokallio, who capped his Season 6 achievements by coming second at EPT6 Berlin. As always, the festival is being run in conjunction with the Grosvenor Victoria Casino and forms part of the Grosvenor’s annual European Poker Championships event. It's a freezeout to all intents and purposes but if you go out you can buy back in again for the full amount (buyin + reg fee) but are likely to be sat at a different seat/table. Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: gatso on September 23, 2010, 10:52:32 PM So it's a rebuy with juice on rebuys but you'll probably get a new seat
Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: stonecoldkiller on September 23, 2010, 11:21:28 PM I heard they will have security guards at all sandwich shop doors, can anyone confirm?
Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: celtic on September 23, 2010, 11:30:49 PM So it's a rebuy with juice on rebuys but you'll probably get a new seat No it's slightly different. In a rebuy you can re-buy when you have 50% of your starting stack and can stay at the same table. With this you have to busto before you can buy in again. Totally different. Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: Cf on September 23, 2010, 11:32:30 PM So it's a rebuy with juice on rebuys but you'll probably get a new seat In a rebuy you can re-buy when you have 50% of your starting stack Nope. Some places w/ limited rebuys let you take them whatever your stack. And with unlimited rebuys they let you take them on a starting stack. Not the same everywhere. But I do agree that this is slightly different. Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: celtic on September 23, 2010, 11:38:06 PM True cf but I was trying to simplify it for Gatso ;-)
Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: gatso on September 23, 2010, 11:44:27 PM Any chance you could simplify it to the point where they're not juicing rebuys?
Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: celtic on September 23, 2010, 11:48:01 PM Because its not a rebuy? You are re-entering the comp if you wish to. I suspect they can get away with it because its for charity.
Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: gatso on September 23, 2010, 11:52:30 PM Can you bust day 1 then come back again on day 2?
Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: celtic on September 23, 2010, 11:59:52 PM Can you bust day 1 then come back again on day 2? You mean 1b or Day 2? i'm assuming you can re-join on any of the start days up to a certain level assuming no alternates waiting etc. Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: gatso on September 24, 2010, 12:22:48 AM I meant bust 1a and in back for 1b. Not 100% sure though. hehe, you're the only person in the uk who knows how these tournaments work and you don't know how they work. it's gonna be chaos Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: 77dave on September 24, 2010, 01:47:35 AM Re-entry comps are quite common in vegas, obv the juice is included in the buyin over there so the extra reg fees get overlooked. They can be fun as when you bust and re-entry you either get moved to a new seat at a different table or you go on the alts list and have to wait in turn. There will be a limit on how long you can buy in for same as a rebuy comp but prob not a limit on the number of times.

They have a repechage day, where if you get knocked out on day 1A or 1B you can play the repecharge day and get through to day 2. I think it is a good idea. Nothing worse than making a long trip somewhere and getting donked early. Sure to be a soft field in the repecharge day too?

Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: DJ 001 on September 27, 2010, 03:11:43 PM Hi All,
Mouth - #30 - There were 119 players for the Ladies Event last year in London and I expect an equally strong showing at this years events. We have expanded the offering to be three events (£100 Super, £500 Main, £200 Side). We also ran online qualifiers for the Ladies Main Event. The structures can be found here... http://www.europeanpokertour.com/tournaments/structure/side_events/ladiesonly/ £100 Re Entry Event - There have been a number of questions about the £100 + £10 + £10 Charity Event next weekend at EPT London so I wanted to provide a quick explanation. 1. This is a “Re Entry” Event, not a Re Buy Event. The difference is, in a rebuy event, you simply hand the dealer or floor person another buyin when you bust, the dealer gives you another stack and you stay in your seat and keep playing. For a “Re Entry” Event, once you bust, you must get up, go to the registration desk, buy in again and you will be given an entirely new seat with a fresh stack. 2. The INITIAL buy in is £100 + £10 + £10 with £10 going to charity. All of the “Re Entries’” are £100 + £10 with the £10 going to charity. There is no admin fee on the “Re Entries” for Day 1A or Day 1B. There is an Admin Fee on your INITIAL entry on Day 1A and Day 1B. 3. There will be eight levels of late registration. Players can register until the start of Level Nine. The levels are 25 minutes long. 4. You may “Re Enter” as many times as you like on either day 1 until the start of Level Nine. The only players prohibited from playing on Day 1B are all players who cashed on Day 1A. Once you have cashed this Event, even if you were eliminated after your cash, your tournament is completed. 5. The structure is available at http://www.europeanpokertour.com/tou...events/london/ 6. Each Day 1 will play down to the final two tables (16 players) and those players will return for Day 2. 7. Each Day 1 will pay 10% of its field down to 16 players. Example - a. Day 1A – 496 players, Day 1B – 705 players. b. 10% rounded in 8 handed tables = Day 1A pays 48 and Day 1B pays 72 c. Day 1A – from 48 to 17 will be paid X, Y and Z d. Day 1B – from 72 to 17 will be paid X, Y and Z e. Day 2 – 16 players from 1A and 16 players from 1B return, all in the money and play down to a single winner f. Day 2 – Play begins at the earliest level between 1A and 1B. If 1A stops on Level 15 and 1B stops on Level 18, play resumes at Level 15 time from Day 1A. Any other questions, please let me know. Cheers, Neil PokerStars Live Events Specialist Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: gatso on September 27, 2010, 04:53:07 PM cool. so the rebuys/reentries, whatever you want to call them, aren't juiced. I like that
1 more question. if you bust 1a and then play 1b is your first buyin on 1b treated as an initial buyin (juiced) or a reentry (not juiced)? Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: TightEnd on September 27, 2010, 05:41:22 PM thanks for coming on, Neil

"The final event of the hectic London poker festival calendar looks set to be the biggest, again. EPT London is looking set to break its own UK attendance record today following 339 players sitting down for day 1a. The record is 730 so day 1b has a very realistic aim of 392 players to break its own record today." Nguyen Wins, Trickett Has to Borrow Cash Posted 10 minutes ago by danafish The Evidence "YESSS!!!! ALL YOU CAN EAT, BABY!" The Hypothesis Men Nguyen was a) drinking, and b) winning a hand. Upon further investigation, though, we discovered that although part a) was indeed true, part b) was not. Nguyen hadn't been involved in a hand at all, but rather had just won £1,000 from Sam Trickett betting on the color of the flop. It had come down all black, and Nguyen had won. Trickett had had to borrow the £1,000 from Jason Mercier at the next table, and was engaged in trying to borrow another £1,000 to run it again. Conclusion Degenerates, the lot of them ;D Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: outragous76 on October 01, 2010, 12:05:07 AM Haha, men nygen came over to the vic on the break to pay cash! Sicko!

Title: Re: The EPT London thread Post by: TightEnd on October 04, 2010, 11:33:46 AM Seat 1: David Vamplew, 23, Fife, Scotland - 3,670,000 chips
Vamplew has played poker since 2005 and turned pro after graduating from Edinburgh University last year with a maths degree. Normally an online cash player Vamplew started playing live tournaments this year, cashing once before, a 106th place finish worth $6,000 in a WSOP $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em event this year. (http://www.pokerstarsblog.com/david_vamplew_final.jpg) This is only his second EPT and he's here with poker playing friends Nick Risk and Max Silver. He is also hoping his Mum will travel down to support him. Originally an online cash game grinder, Marchese made his mark on the live tournament in spectacular fashion in February this year, winning the inaugural PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour event at the Venetian, in Las Vegas. The $827,648 victory came only a few weeks after his third place finish in the $3,300 No-Limit Hold'em championship at the Borgata Winter Open for $190,027. Marchese began playing online while at college, spending the last few years fine tuning his skills as "kingsofcards" on PokerStars, earning more than $350,000 in online multi-table tournaments. Since the NAPT Marchese has had results in Monte Carlo and the World Series, amounting to more than $1,6 million this year. Seat 3: Fernando Brito, 51, Salvador da Bahia, Brazil - 1,100,000 Brito, a business man from Portugal, who now lives in Brazil, owns factories in Angola and "fazendas" (large farms) in Brazil. Married and with four children, Brito first started playing poker a year and a half ago, starting online on PokerStars while also enjoying live play, finishing 53rd in the EPT Grand Final earlier this year. Brito is a regular on the Latin American Poker Tour, reaching several side event finals, although main event success eludes him. He is currently considering retiring from business in order to play more around the world. He is being railed here in EPT London by his Brazilian poker buddies, Team PokerStars Pros Gualter Salles, André Akkari and Alex Gomes. Seat 4: Per Ummer, 44, Cyprus - 1,245,000 Ummer was born and raised in Sweden but has lived in Cyprus for many years. Ummer was a software developer, and his familiarity with the internet led him to online poker. While mainly a cash game player he competed at the Barcelona Open in 2004 where he cashed in one of the preliminary events. The following year, he came 44th in the $25,000 Monte Carlo Millions while his best live result was at the WPT LA Poker Classic in 2006 - where he came 6th for a $200,000 payday. He was also a finalist in the Bellagio Cup in Vegas in 2008 and has cashed in several other tournaments since that time, including a 2007 World Series of Poker event. Seat 5: Artur "wesylaa" Wasek, 35, Plock, Poland - PokerStars qualifier - 2,250,000 chips Wasek has been playing poker for over two years now, becoming an EPT regular. The Pole won his seat to EPT London in a $22 re-buy satellite on PokerStars. He first came to the poker world's attention earlier this year when he made the final EPT Berlin, his first appearance on the tour, finishing fourth earning €280,000. few weeks later he finished fifth in a €500 side event at EPT Snowfest, in Austria. Online, his biggest success was fifth place in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-up for $37,000. He is married with a six-year-old daughter Susanne. Seat 6: Kayvan Payman,, 33 Vancouver, Canada - 1,295,000 Vancouver native Kayvan Payman has been playing poker for around ten years. He's had some decent results - his biggest online win was for around $40,000, and he has picked up a few other five-figure paydays - but isn't a pro, making most of his living trading in stocks instead. Most of his live results have been in his native Canada, but he finaled the €1,000 side event at EPT Tallinn, and cashed in the £2,500 six-max event at the WSOPE just a few weeks ago. Wherever he finishes here in London, this will be his biggest ever live cash. Seat 7: Kyle "kwob20" Bowker, 27, Walton, NY, USA - 7,165,000 chips As a professional, Bowker's tournament winnings total more than $800,000. His first major results was a deep run at the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event, where he finished 37th earning $247,000. (http://www.pokerstarsblog.com/kyle_bowker_final.jpg) A few weeks later Bowker made poker history when he became the first player to win two PokerStars World Champion of Online Poker bracelets in one year, first taking down the 2006 WCOOP Limit Omana Hi-Lo event, worth $103,162, then the Seven Card Stud High/Low event a week later for an additional $68,267. His winnings on PokerStars now exceed a million dollars. Seat 8: John Juanda, 39, Las Vegas, USA - 7,075,000 chips John Juanda moved from Indonesia to the USA in 1990, enrolling at Oklahoma University. He has since gone on to become one of the world's most successful poker players, with more than $10.5 million in tournament winnings - a far cry from his days as a door-to-door salesman selling bibles. (http://www.pokerstarsblog.com/john_juanda_final.jpg) Juanda has four World Series of Poker bracelets to his name, including one for winning the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event for £868,000. A few weeks after that he came second to Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier in the London EPT £1 Million Showdown, earning another £327,000. London has proven to be a happy hunting ground for Juanda, who starts the final close to the chip lead.
