Title: Tough spot with JJ
Post by: MC on September 24, 2010, 11:54:46 PM
$3R 180-man

No real reads except no regs involved and no stats of major note. Felt like the raiser would have a fairly tight range.

I think I 3-bet a decent amount but are we okay to flat sometimes to encourage a squeeze?

Villain's call of the donk shove confused me a little. I don't see how he can call without AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AT, 9T, sets or xx of clubs. But all these hands I'd expect to rejam except perhaps sets. Perhaps I should have considered JT/QT/KT more ingame when making the decision.

Against that range it looks like a fold? Our hand is pretty underrepped though.

If he's competent then the flat obviously looks strong.

With an M of less than 11,i'm 3betting pre here for sure with a hand as vulnerable as jacks.

Pretty quick fold for me. Not 3betting and getting it in pre with <30BBs is pretty criminal though in a $3R imo.

Take this line to induce from the aggro players that you'll encounter in a bigger buyin tourney but in a $3R just get it in and take the money

Yeah I guess 3-bet is better, it's my default play, but I noticed a bunch of shorties and hoped one would shove, dude would call/reshove and we could get it in like that, sadly they didn't read my script.
