I have a recovery disc but not tried it yet in case I lost all my files (photos, music etc) was going to use it as a last resort Title: Re: Computer help Line422 Post by: kinboshi on October 06, 2010, 09:27:38 AM Even if you can't log into Windows, you should be able to restore the data (photos, music, etc.) on the drive. That shouldn't be lost.
You can even plug the hard drive into another PC to access those files if necessary. Title: Re: Computer help Line422 Post by: nosey-p on October 06, 2010, 01:19:52 PM Tried the disc, no good
So my only option now is to take the hard drive out and connect it to another PC, or should just take it to a shop? Do you have a mate locally who knows their way around a computer? They might be able to do it for nowt, otherwise ring around a few shops and see how much they're quoting. What do i do? Download it on another computer onto a disc then place it in my Laptop? Title: Re: Computer help Line422 Post by: Bongo on October 06, 2010, 02:20:31 PM Yes, download it, burn it to CD (it's an image so choose "burn image" in your writing software, don't just put the file on a CD) then boot from that CD. It will give you an OS that runs from the CD so you can access your files and copy them to another hard drive.
