It was done discreetly, without fanfare, but the Commons marked an important and human moment yesterday: the return of David Ruffley. The member for Bury St Edmunds has been on leave since he fell under a train at Victoria station in June. Over the summer his colleagues have rallied round with support, making sure that his constituency duties were covered, and helping David get back on track.
