Irishman Brings 2010 Boylepoker International Poker Open Title Home
John Gray Tops Field of 1,293 for Payday of  €50,600 in Europe’s Largest Live Poker Tournament

Dublin, Ireland: October 18, 2010 – The title for the €180 + €20 buy-in Boylepoker.com International Poker Open has returned home after Irishman John Gray slayed his way to the top of what continues to be Europe’s largest poker event. He received the first-place prize of €50,600 for a top-notch performance.

The IPO ran from October 15 to 17, and over two starting days, Dublin’s Regency Hotel heaved with 1,293 players. This included a mix of amateurs, Internet qualifiers, Boylepoker pros, celebrities, and international legends such as Marty Smyth, Neil Channing, Surinder Sunar, Liam Flood, Paul Marrow, Andy Black, “Mad” Marty Wilson, Padraig Parkinson, and Jessie May.

On day 2, 121 players took a slice of the €252,740 prize pool, which included €20,000 added by Boylepoker.com. It took nine hours and 21 minutes to find a champion including an explosive final table, which witnessed numerous all-ins and ever-changing chip stacks.

The final table players and their chip counts were:

Seat 1: Leon Pascal (French) 790,000
Seat 2: Eddie Landy (Irish) 2,945,000
Seat 3: Daniel Ward (English) 555,000
Seat 4: Conor Reddy (Irish) 890,000
Seat 5: John Gray (Irish) 790,000
Seat 6: Aidan Connolly (Irish) 1,725,000
Seat 7: Craig Borrer (English) 595,000
Seat 8: Gavin Flynn (Irish) 2,225,000
Seat 9: Vincent Cosgrove (Irish) 800,000

The payouts for the final nine were:

1st €50,600
2nd €33,683
3rd €23,538
4th €17,735
5th €13,944
6th €11,416
7th €9,395
8th €7,057
9th €4,618

The ultimate hand of the 2010 International Poker Open came when John Gray busted heads-up opponent Eddie Landy with pocket jacks versus 10d 4d respectively. On a board reading Ac Qd 8h 7d Landy needed a diamond on the river for a flush. However the event’s final card to hit the felt was the 3s, making Ward €50,600 richer, and sending Landy out with the runner-up prize of €33,683.

After his win, 28-year-old Gray said, “I feel great, it’s a bit surreal. I don’t know what to think, I can’t believe it but it will probably sink in tomorrow.”

The final table results were:

1st John Gray €50,600
2nd Eddie Landy €33,683
3rd Aidan Connolly €23,538
4th Gavin Flynn €17,735
5th Vincent Cosgrave €13,944
6th Conor Reddy €11,416
7th Craig Borrer €9,395
8th Leon Pascal €7,057
9th Daniel Ward €4,618

Lisa Condon of Boylepoker.com said, “This year’s International Poker Open was as exciting as ever. The success and popularity of the event boils down to the spirit of those who take part and the hard work of everyone on the team. The IPO has proven itself to be an event for every level of player, giving amateur players the chance to sit next to professionals and soak in the experience of what it is like to play a major live tournament at a low cost. We’re already looking forward to next year!”

The event was streamed live at Boylepokerblog.com. Extensive coverage such as photographs, chip counts, interviews, and videos from the event can also be found on Boylepoker's blog in the IPO 2010 section.

Unlucky to Dan who finshed 9th. Pretty sick that I came 11th last year and he came 9th and we were both chip leaders going into day 2 in consecutive years.

Leicester FTW

He was 2 places better than you, but your IPO had over 100 more people in it, which makes you better overall based on my statistical analysis.

I made two finals, cant really find a way of thinly veiling that one so I just said it. How much did you win for the scalp event?

Highlight of my weekend was playing cash with Channing and co and him saying, 'Don't worry, you have me covered'.

Think I might stop playing poker now.

Highlight of my weekend was without doubt watching Greekstein in his element, it was like watching Woods with a Golf Club, Ronnie with a Snooker Cue, Picasso with a Paint Brush.....

Yes I had the pleasure of watching him trolling people in the chatbox on Full Tilt, it was amazing, he was doing it one handed, while chatting to us, playing and checking out facebook. If nothing else happens in my life, I can say, I was there.
