Title: Live cash river spot
Post by: cambridgealex on October 18, 2010, 02:36:19 PM
Playing 0.50/1 cash at Gala Nottingham (sigh). Me and the villain concerned are both playing roughly £300. He is a semi-solid live player (Shaddy from DTD if anyone knows him). He knows me to be loose aggressive but respects my game. He might think I was slightly tilted cos I had just lost a reasonable pot.

two limps to my button, I limp  Ahrt 3c, SB completes (playing £24), Shaddy checks.
3d 3h 4h Checks to me. I bet £4, SB calls, shaddy makes it £16. Folds round. I raise to £35. SB calls all in (defo on heart draw imo). Shaddy tanks for a short time then calls. He definitely has a 3 in this spot but could be any 3 ofc from the BB. May or may not reraise 43 in this spot, not sure.

5minutes later the dealer has sorted out the side pot...and we get a turn card

Ks he checks, I bet £55 (though the side pot is only £24). He tanks for a bit longer a calls. I'm pretty sure he'd raise K3 or 43 at this point but not 100%.

River  Jd. He tanks and bets £75. He has about 120 behind.

What's the move here?

I'd just call, shoving isn't tez, folding is.

Given your reads that he definitely has a 3 and your pretty sure it's not K3 or 43 then this has to be a shove.

He's not going to pass and there's only J3 that beats you which if he has it is just meh.

Without those reads I'd just call but with the information you've given definitely ship it.

Why don't you think he'll pass if I shove? I don't think he'd call w/o a house cos he's good enough to know I'm not shoving there with worse than A3.

Just cus he's got too much in there already to pass with triple threes.

If you don't think he'll call without a hand that beats you then obviously you should just call.

I take it from these comments that your reason for this thread is to ask whether you should pass?

No you shouldn't.

Also if he 100% knows you're not shoving worse than A3 you should use this to your advantage by bluffing him a lot. He's exploitable if he always thinks the worst.

Why did you play A3 if you are not going to get your stack in on this board?

And what possesses you to play at Gala?

No I didn't think I should pass, I was wondering about missed value cos obv I called and he had Q3.

If you're 100% certain he folds then obviously you haven't missed value.

I have a feeling you may have though. His line looks like he's repping a missed flush draw to me and he's inducing a bluff shove from you.

I can't see anyone passing trips here in a 150bb cash pot.

think i misunderstood this. i think what you are saying though is a couple of levels higher than gala regs are thinking tbh (even though I said he was ok, it's still live, and its still gala). he said he would have pass if i had shoved fwiw

if ur gonna 3bet the flop make it a lot bigger, as played this is a pretty clear call without a history of big hero's.

3bet the flop bigger, raise turn bigger to set up the river shove which will probably be a smallish overbet

Once he's called the flop 3bet he almost certainly has a 3, once he calls the the turn lead aswell he has a 3 like always and I don't think he's ever passing so no reason to just jam it all on the end

in my experience of live pokers at the level he will never fold 23 even. He might ummm and arrr and sigh when he calls, which is why you shouldnt bluff when people have trips lol

So jam jam jam. he's gonna be getting like 2-1
